Three Sisters by Helen Smith

Blurb: Three Sisters introduces twenty-six-year-old amateur sleuth Emily Castles in this popular new British mystery series.

Emily has been invited to a party in the big house at the end of her street in London. How could she know, as she left her house that evening, that she was making an appointment with death?

My Review: This is just about the most unusual cozy mystery I've ever read...completely unique. Emily Castles is mourning the death of her beloved golden retriever Jessie when she's invited to a neighborhood bonfire party at her new neighbors' flat in London. She doesn't know she's about to experience the craziness evening of her life as her hosts have hired a performance troop complete with knife throwers and fire jugglers. Who and what is part of the act and what isn't? Emily starts to think her grief is causing her to imagine things when she's sure she witnessed a murder, only to moments later see the "victim" alive and well.

This is an extremely clever mystery and I'm anxious to see what further adventures await Emily.
