I've been blessed to have shared my life with several senior pets through the years. My childhood cat Patch was with us for 15 years (today is coincidentally the 22nd anniversary of the day he went to the Rainbow Bridge...my first experience losing a pet), then my family took in a neglected neighborhood cat Sam at around age 11. When I was old enough to adopt a cat on my own, I first chose Sashi who was already 9 when I brought her home, then Tara was 7 or a little older when I adopted her.
Everyone gravitates towards puppies and kittens, but bringing home a senior pet is gratifying in so many ways. Having the opportunity to share a pet's golden years with them is a gift to be cherished. Today I'm happy to share with you a wonderful infographic from Blogpaws celebrating our furry senior citizens:

Senior pets are wonderful. I adopted my dog, Sam, when he was 11 years old. He's 13 now. I've vowed to always adopt senior dogs. I've also adopted senior rats, although I admit I've always gotten kittens as I've found it very difficult bringing an adult into the family.
Senior pets are cool! My little Lita just turned 10, and Jewel is 15! I'm so glad I've gotten to watch them both grow. Our beloved Kitty was 18 when she went to the Bridge. It's really nice when we can give them nice, loving homes in their golden years :)
Amen! I would never adopt a kitten...so many advantages for a senior pet...bioth for them and me!
