Truffles: "I hate sea otters!!!"
Did you watch Saving Otter 501 on Nature the other night? I didn't. Strike that, I wasn't allowed to. You see I was unable to watch when it aired Wednesday night so I recorded it for the next day. I sat there smiling from ear to ear at the antics and squeals of the little baby otter when it happened.
Not 3 minutes into the show Truffles awoke from a sound sleep in her lounger with a look of panic on her face. She started staring at the TV with her ears pointed forward and jumped for the couch and my lap. I thought she was seeking comfort but she headed for the back of the couch on a mission to get to the TV in the corner! She would not calm down until I turned it off. Then she immediately calmed down and settled in for a bath while I was left searching for something else to watch.
She has never reacted that way to anything, not even my silly Halloween decorations that sing and dance around. What do you think? Did the pitch of the otter's squeals hurt her ears or did it remind her of some other sound?

wow, very interesting.
She might've thought it was a baby kitten needing attention! Our cats react that way when they hear baby kittens, puppies, baby humans, or anything else that sounds like that.
wow, maybe she did think it was a baby kitten that was in trouble!
I am with The Meezers above, that sea otter does sound like a baby kitten and I bet that is exactly what upset her.
We bet it was the sound of the baby otter that affected her.
We have no idea. But it would be very interesting to find out.

Does sound like it was crying out. My kitties don't like dogs barking. Freaks them out.

Kitties hear sounds differently than we do. Maybe try turning off the sound and watching---see if that bothers her.
