As you may or may not know, this is my very first Christmas in my forever home, and I'm discovering that Mommy is Christmas crazy!!! She's already pulling out her collection of Christmas books, movies, and music, writing gift lists, and planning her decorating for the season. (I'm very intrigued by the idea of an indoor tree...heehee.) By the looks of things Christmas is getting ready to take over our lives and I just don't know what to expect.
So here's our Challenge for you:
We would like you to write a short story and describe what a special little kitty like me might expect for their very first Christmas. (Leave your story or a link to your post in the comments below.) What will be in my stocking? Will I see Santa? (Is he really always watching? Uh oh.) Will anything about it be scary? Can I climb the Christmas tree and play with the ornaments? Will Mommy dress me up like she did at Halloween? How can I "give back" and help less fortunate kitties that are still homeless at Christmas? If I were an edible Christmas truffle, what would my yummy filling be?
Another idea...if you have a kitty of your own maybe they could give me some advice too!
No length requirements, answer one question, all of them, or make up something "Kitty's First Christmas" all your own! Have fun with it and be creative!
One lucky storyteller will win: Silent Knife by Shelley Freydont, Merry Ex-Mas by Sheila Roberts, a $5 Starbucks gift card, and a Lake Champlain Chocolates Coffee Truffle bar!

Fiction State Of Mind: Ho Ho Ho Holiday Read-a-Thon Update 1 http://fictionstateofmind.blogspot.com/2013/11/ho-ho-ho-holiday-read-thon-starting.html?spref=tw
I like this challenge. The night before Christmas found Christmas Truffles napping under the brightly lighted Christmas tree in her cozy and warm little bed and wearing her granny nightgown and granny cap. She is disturbed from her dream of hot fudge coated mice by a muffled sound coming from the ember lit fireplace. She lazily stretches and gets up to meander over to were she heard the noise when all of a sudden a loud thunderous clatter came from the direction she was headed. Christmas Truffles' back came up and the hairs stood straight up in fright. She let out an ear shattering howl of terror and raced up the Christmas tree. She watched with observant eyes filled with curiousity as a huge figure dressed in red and white attire came backing out from the hearth. When he turns and heads towards the Christmas tree Christmas Truffle observes a round jolly face with sparkling eyes and rosey red cheecks with a flowing snow white beard. She new right them she had nothing to fear because she was looking at good ol' St. Nick. She watched with wonder has he worked his task with effortless movements. He placed presents under the tree and filled the stockings hanging from the mantle with an assortment of goodies. Then he entered the fireplace and laid his finger a side of his nose and just before he ascended up the chimney he turned toward the tree and spied Christmas Truffles and gave her a wink and then up the chimney he rose.
MEOW! We love your story, TerrieLynn! Thank you so much for participating :)
Is that keys I hear? Yay!!! Mommy is home! I mosey on over to her (I can't let her know how excited I am to see her!) "Hi Truffles!" mommy says, "look what I got for you today!" She pulls out this small yarn thing. Before I could react, mommy grabs me and puts it over my head! What in the world is this horrible thing? I start mewing and pawing at this horrible, horrible contraption while mommy stands there saying "oh Truffles, look how adorable you are in this new Christmas sweater!" Sweater? Sweater? This is SOOO not going to work for me!!! As mommy rushes to get her camera so she can post another embarrassing picture of me on her blog, I fight like heck to get out of this thing! Finally I wrestle this so called sweater off and hide it before mommy gets back! HA! Now she will not have another picture for her blog! I win!..........Wait, what is that little hat looking thing in her hand?........................
LOL. Ok, that was pretty fun! LOL.Thanks!
This is fun, what a great idea! I wrote one up, check it out here. http://gregsbookhaven.blogspot.com/2013/11/christmas-story-hohoho-read-thon-story.html
Have a great read-a-thon!
Oh I am loving all of these stories! Just think Melissa you will have tons of stories to read to Truffles
Love it! Truffles hates getting dressed up so I can totally see this happening LOL
I know!!! So much fun :)
Christmas Truffles had a hard time falling asleep on Christmas Eve, because Christmas Truffles had heard that a strange man named Santa would come into the house. As hard as Christmas Truffles tried, she eventually fell asleep snuggled next to her mom. When Christmas Truffles awoke, she found a stocking with her name on it, filled with catnip mice, Temptations snacks, and ball made entirely of catnip! Christmas Truffles' mom tried to put an elf hat on her, but she scurried away in time. Christmas Truffles was happy about her presents, but she wasn't going to start being THAT agreeable. Christmas Truffles had a wonderful day playing with her new toys and had a very tasty bit of tunafish for dinner. As Christmas Truffles snuggled next to her mom in bed that night, she thought to herself that Christmas is the best day ever. :)
So, so cute, Pamela! Temptations are Truffles' favorite treats too! And I will definitely be buying her an elf hat...I think it totally fits her personality :)
