Cat's Meow Mailbox is inspired by the great weekly recap book memes (Mailbox Monday, Waiting On Wednesday, It’s Monday! What are you reading? and Sunday Post)
As I sit here writing this on Saturday night all I keep thinking is that a week from tonight is the very first NASCAR race of the year...I AM SO EXCITED!!! One thing I am NOT watching is the Sochi Olympics. I am completely sickened and repulsed by the mass extermination of stray dogs and cats (or as the Russians referred to them, "biological trash".) The Olympic committee has blood on their hands as far as I'm concerned, and I want nothing to do with them. I look in my sweet baby Truffles' eyes and find it hard to believe that we live in a world where all animals aren't treated as the perfect, beautiful gifts that they are.
Truffles had a good mail week too receiving packages from The Natural Pet Company and Chewy.com. Stay tuned for her reviews!
Gotta run...I'm off to watch the Lil Bub special on Animal Planet!

I didn't know abut the horrendous treatment of stray cats and dogs, but you know, sadly it doesn't surprise me and they don't advertise that, do they :( I remember here in the UK when we had the Olympics 4 years ago a huge area was cleared for the Olympic Park and cat charities picked up colonies of stray/feral cats over 100+ who they desperately tried to re-home with people who have farming land etc as they are not really suitable to rehome in people's indoor homes usually. Sad. Quite a book haul you've got, isn't' that cat on Reservoir Cats cute?
I don't watch much tv, so I didn't know anything about what they did to the animals. That is awful!
Enjoy all you your books you got this week.

I'm torn about the Olympics. While I totally disagree with the what the Russian government is doing with the stray animals, I feel for the athletes that deserve our support.

There are evil peoples everywhere. And when it's a question of homeless animals (or even homeless people for that matter) or making billions hosting the Olympics...which do you think they'll choose?
How to Paint a Cat is available? YES! Gonna get that for the peep.

PS. Regarding the atrocity committed in Sochi, I've got the peep boycottin' products advertising on Olympic coverage. If we all did that and let them know... things would change, for sure. purrs
We bet watching Lil Bub will be most exciting.
We do not have TV so we will not get to watch it.
We are also not watching the Olympics(same reason)
They did this sort of thing in China too.
Maybe the Olympics should stay out of countries with Human/Animal rights issues .

I haven't watched any of the Olympics either but now I have a great reason not to! Horrendous!

Okay so I'm seriously considering stealing your kitties on your follow buttons. TOO CUTE! Love Truffles - what a beauty! I'm a cat lover too and feature the ones who have graced our home over the last 15 years on my blog. Two went to kitty heaven in 2013, but our current baby is Lulah. Come see her. :)
Hopping through. Enjoy all those books you got this week!

Our mom was filming with a guy from an ad agency in Chicago today and we felt so bad for him. He LOVES cats, and his wife - who is from Russia - does not like pets at ALL. He says it's cultural - from Russia. We felt SO bad for him.
