Black Cat Appreciation Day

Although Truffles is tortie to the bone, she is predominantly black, and we've read that some shelters include torties when they hold special black cat adoption events.

So how are we celebrating? I collect some of the Lemax Spooky Town village pieces (primarily the ones that are cat-related, of course), and each year at Halloween I display them in various vignettes. This is the latest addition to my collection, purchased just last week. Fitting, don't you think? I particularly love the little cat butt sticking out from underneath the table :)

Here are some of the cutie pies available at one of my local shelters. If you have room in your home and in your heart, please consider adopting a black cat. They are less likely to be adopted than their more colorful counterparts, but they are the purr-fect addition to any home.

We love black kitties. Momma makes certain she does special videos for them at the shelter, and we stand in solidarity with them on Black Cat Appreciation Day - since, except for the dilute & masking genes, Allie would be black and except for the albino gene, Maxie would too!

My favorite cat ever, who has since passed, was black as night and built like a sleek panther!
I now have 2 black and white tuxedo cats besides my grey tabby and my orange tabby. I don't see why people are so superstitious about them; if you love cats, they are gorgeous--but don't go by looks, go by personality when you adopt one. And always try for an adult cat--their personality is fixed and they get "put down" way quicker than cutie kittens.

Thanks for letting me say my piece as a cat lover :)

Interestin'... You know, when my Aunties Primrose and Snowdrop were born, the peeps say they thought they were both panthers but once their mama cleaned 'em all up, they say they were torties.

Purrs,
Nissy

PS. Just so everyone knows, my aunties' mama was rescued WHEN preggers. That's how come the peeps were there when my aunties were born. purrs

I have two black cats, Wiggles and Muffin (girl and boy, respectively), and their sister is Suzie, who is black and white. I also have two tabbies. I've had black cat calendars before.
