Meet Clyde from The Cat, the Vagabond & the Victim by Leann Sweeney (w/Review & Giveaway)

My name is Clyde and I became a vagabond. Did I mention I'm a huge orange tabby with a heart almost as big as I am? I was rescued once when I was a kitten by the wonderful people who run the Mercy Animal Sanctuary in South Carolina. I was adopted right away and then my human got sick. He thought I'd do better living with someone else since he was feeble, but I had other ideas. He needed me.

How I came to stay with Jillian Hart and her three fur friends Chablis, Merlot and Syrah is something you'll have to find out by reading the story that writer Leann Sweeney told about my travels and the mystery we all got involved in. Yes, all of us. She has great fur friends. The best. And she took such good care of me when I was fostered with her.

Bad things happened to all of us, sure, but good things happened, too. I hope you'll pick up a copy of Leann's book—or if you're lucky, you might win one right here. Melissa will tell you how. She knows all about me and how it all works.

Leann Sweeney, a NY Times Bestselling author, writes the Cats in Trouble series for Penguin Random House/Obsidian. The Cat, The Vagabond and The Victim is the 6th installment in the series featuring Jillian Hart, a quilter and cat lover, and her three feline friends Chablis, Merlot and Syrah. Look for book seven in the series next year.

Giveaway: Leave a comment by noon eastern on Monday, August 11th, for your chance to win a copy of The Cat, the Vagabond and the Victim. (US entries only, please.)

About the book: When Clyde the cat travels two hundred miles back home only to find his former owner dead, the story makes national news. While everyone seems eager to tell Clyde’s incredible tale, someone needs to step up to care for him. Because the media attention is creating chaos at the local shelter, cat quilter Jillian Hart agrees to foster the loyal orange tabby, hoping his location is kept secret.

But while the media circus around Clyde continues, Jillian learns the real story behind his owner’s death—he was murdered. Why would an eldery man already dying from a serious illness become a murder victim? As the local police search for an answer, Clyde makes another escape. Jillian is drawn into the case when she finds Clyde has returned to his home again—and he’s found another body. When the motive behind these murders is finally revealed, Jillian understands Clyde is in danger of becoming the next victim, and she must help find the killer before the claws really come out.…

Tortie Shorties
Book reviews that are short and sweet...just like Truffles!

Some people have "book boyfriends" from the romance novels that they read. I read cozies and fall in love with fictional felines. Even readers that aren't completely cat crazy like me will adore Clyde - he's just that loveable.

This 6th Cats in Trouble mystery finds Jillian fostering orange tabby Clyde, a nationwide celebrity who travelled 200 miles to return to his owner - only to find cancer-stricken Norman Jeffrey dead. The poor man was already on borrowed time - so why do his heart medication bottles indicate that he was overdosed? Jillian has her hands full when little escape artist Clyde ends up back at Norm's house and finds yet another dead body!

Besides Clyde, the stars of this book are Norm's wacky relatives. Elderly, suspicious, and at least one is most likely a killer as more and more of their family secrets come to light. Clyde does find his happily ever after, and it's so perfect that it brought a tear to my eye.

At the end of this page-turner mystery I wasn't ready to let these characters go, so I made the mistake of reading the preview for the next book in the series. The Cat, the Sneak & the Secret will be released in August 2015 and stars a tortie named Magpie. The wait is going to be torture!!!
