Sunday Smorgasbord #4

Since Sunday features a multitude of blog hops, instead of doing a single post for each one, Truffles and I have decided to merge them all into a Sunday Smorgasbord. Each week we will start with whichever hop Truffles is participating in (Sunday Selfies, Easy Sunday, B&W Sunday) followed by my customary weekly blog recap and what showed up in our mailbox this week.

Hey everybody, Truffles at the keyboard! I've decided to start using the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop (hosted by The Cat on My Head) as a way to showcase some of the kitties waiting for their forever homes at my Alma Mater, Franklin County Humane Society, and then sharing it with the Tuesday's Tails Blog Hop as well. I'm starting with a handsome mancat named Dexter, and I asked him to tell you a little about himself:

"Hi Truffles! Thank you so much for featuring me today on your blog. My name is Dexter. (No, I'm nothing like the Dexter you may have watched on TV.) I'm a really sweet boy who arrived at the shelter as a stray, and sadly I seem to be a victim of that silly black cat syndrome. I've been here at FCHS for nearly a year now, the second longest of any other kitty here. I'm used to being outside so I *could* be an indoor/outdoor cat, but of course I would be much safer exclusively as a house cat. I am SO ready to move into a home of my own. Since I've been here at the shelter I've lost some weight because I'm pretty unhappy. Are you looking for a handsome house panther to share your life with? More information on how to adopt me can be found here. Just sayin'..."

We have some exciting news to share this week too. We're going to be co-hosting a Halloween Day Blog Hop with Barking from the Bayou and Oz the Terrier! If you have a costume contest or party happening on Halloween, you’ll definitely want to join us. We can gather all of the spooky blogs in Blogville for our trick~or~treaters to visit. Be sure to mark your calendars for October 31st and the Halloween Spooktacular! Get your paws on our Halloween badge to post on your sidebar. I hope all of our feline friends will join us to represent the kitty contingent!

  1. Oh Dexter you're so handsome. Maybe the shelter volunteers could put a nice bright colored collar on you so your beautiful black coat is even more dramatic. You'd look great in red, bright blue, green, or even purple. I'm so hoping you've been in some sort of cat room and not in a cage all this time. I think I'd cry if you've been in a cage. I spent several months in the shelter before finding my forever family, but I was in a big room with other cats. I hope you're able to find your forever home soon.

  3. Awww... Dexter, we sure do hope you find a wonderful (and indoor!) forever home very soon. Glogirly had a beautiful cat that looked a lot like you...silky black panther... his name was Nicki and he was a big sweetie too.

  6. What a great idea to have a selfie of that gorgeous black kitty, Dexter. We really like the idea of putting a cat on here that needs a home. We will have to look into a costume for someone around here for Halloween.
We are going to check out those books too.

  12. Dexter, you are truly one very handsome man-cat panther! How could anyone pass you over at the shelter?! Sending purrs and prayers for your quick adoption. The Halloween Spooktacular sounds fun!

  13. Truffles and Melissa, Mom and all of us had really hoped that bloggers would take the opportunity to use the Sunday Selfies to introduce kitties needing homes. As you know, we have done that with Swizzle. And others have done the same. Dexter is such a handsome panfur, and we are purring and praying for him as we do all the kitties who do not have their forever and loving homes. Hope you will join us for our version of the Mice Bucket Challenge with a comment-a-thon on Monday. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo

  15. I have two black cats (sh/lh) and a b&w, and a torti. My husband is reluctant to get a 5th, and while I want one more I agree it is probably not the best idea (although we felt that way with the third and fourth too. Is Dexter in danger???

  16. I hope Dexter finds a forever home soon. The best cats I've known have been black cats so I wasn't aware there was a black cat syndrome until recently. Great books this week!

  17. I love Dexter already! My favorite cats, and I've had a bunch, was a female who looked similar to him. That ridiculous stigma of being black and therefore a sign of witchcraft needs to stop already, people!

You have so many interesting cozies with beautiful covers. I love cover art, I must admit, and it influences my choices. I'm jotting down some of the titles to check out further.

  23. Dexter's cute, if I liked cats I would go for the black cat. I don't know why people don't like them. Looks like you got a lot of great books to read!! I hope you enjoy the all!

  24. Dexter looks so much like my childhood cat, I teared right up. If it weren't for the facts that a) the shelter is a looong way from us and b) my two kitties probably wouldn't take too well to a third, I'd want to adopt him. I sure hope he finds a loving home soon.

That is an impressive pile of cozy mysteries - I'm drooling! (Figuratively speaking, of course.)

  26. Featuring kitties needing homes on Sunday Selfies is a great idea. Even after we move, I will still be an ADVO-cat for MeoowzResQ and will start adding one of their kitties each week! I don't know why this didn't click with me before!
