Meows from Mudpie!
I have kind of a newsy edition of Sunday Selfies this week. First, the good news. You may remember that last week I was hiding my head because it looked like our favorite NASCAR driver, Kevin Harvick, was unlikely to advance in the Chase for the Championship. He had 2 really bad weeks and was in a "must win" situation. Well, guess what...he WON last Sunday and is once again considered a favorite to win the Championship! We'll find out in seven weeks :)
That ended up being the highlight of our week because early Tuesday morning my grandpa had another small stroke. This is the third time in three years, and just like back in December the doctors can't figure out why it's happening because all of his test results come back normal. He's on two new medicines that we're hoping will help. ***Paws crossed***
Last, but certainly not least, you may remember an adoptable cat named Elvira that we featured a couple months ago. She was even the star of her own music video! We were heartbroken to hear that Elvira passed away from liver failure last week. It's so sad that she never found her forever home, but the wonderful people at Franklin County Animal Rescue loved her, and home is where you are loved.

That is exciting news about Kevin Harvick. That was a great win, and we hope he wins the Championship!
ReplyDeleteWe are purring and praying for your Grandpa. How scary and frustrating that they haven't been able to figure out the cause of those strokes. Hugs to you and your family.
We're very sorry to hear about Elvira having to leave for the Bridge. But we are glad she was so well love and cared for at Franklin County Animal Rescue. Fly free, sweet Elvira.
Sendin your grandpa purrs.
ReplyDeleteA long long time ago, my peeps had a kitty named Elvira - she wuz a gray and white girl like Angelique! And so pretty. Unfortunately, she got hit by a car while snoozin in our own driveway (not us, some idiot who pulled up in our driveway). And she wuz just a baby too when it happened.
We're sending you and your grandpa lots and lots of purrs and prayers.
ReplyDeleteAnd we're so very sorry about sweet Elvira. As heartbreaking as it is that she didn't have a forever home, we're comforted in knowing she was loved fans cared for at Franklin County Animal Rescue. Bless those loving rescue volunteers.
So sad about Elvira. Glad to know that she at least received some love at Franklin.

We're sending your grandpa tons of purrs. Hugs to your mom. Purrs
ReplyDeleteWell, having your mom's favorite race car driver win helps soften the bad news. We're purring for your grandpa and hope he will be okay. And we're sad about Elvira. Even though she didn't have her own home, at least she was somewhere where she was well taken care of and loved.
ReplyDeleteYour selfie is very pretty, Mudpie. Hoping Grandpa's new meds help. Sorry Elvira never found a forever home but she was "home" with those who cared for and loved her.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to sweet Elvira... We are grateful the folks at Franklin County Animal Rescue took such good care of her. Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey kitties
ReplyDeleteWe are sending many, many purrs and prayers for your Grandpa!

That is so sad about Elvira. We featured a cat who later died while still in the shelter. It’s so sad. How’s your Dad doing now. They say that once you have a stroke, it weakens the blood vessels so there’s a good chance of it recurring.
ReplyDeleteWe are so sad to hear about Elvira's passing without finding a forever home. We are sure she is frolicking and playing now. We are even sadder to hear about your grandpa's stroke. We'll be purring and Mom will be praying that his new medications help him and that this doesn't happen again. Happy your driver won. We wish him luck going forward. Mudpie, this is a most adorable and sweet selfie. You have the cutest nose and beautiful eyes. We are always happy to have you as part of our hop. ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to hear about Elvira's sudden passage to the Bridge, but you're right she was loved so she had a home with many Moms! Purrs and prayers for your Grandpa.

ReplyDeleteI'm happy you have some good news to temper the bad this week. Like you, I'm happy that Elvira had some love at the end of her life, although I also wish she had a home to call her own. And I'm crossing paws that medicine will help your grandpa!
