Today I'm turning over my Sunday Selfie post to a very special kitty at our local shelter who is in search of the purr-fect home to live out her final days.
Please meet Oreo...
Oreo originally arrived at the Humane Society of Chittenden County in January 2013 and was quickly adopted. She returned to HSCC again last fall when her owner had to move to senior housing and couldn't take Oreo along.
Recently the shelter discovered a mass near her front armpit. The mass was surgically removed and biopsied, and then came the unfortunate diagnosis of high grade mammary cancer that had already spread. With this type and stage of cancer, the prognosis is that Oreo has an average of 8 months to live.
Please help us share Oreo’s story and together we can make sure her final chapter is a peaceful one.
Oh sweet Oreo, so sorry to hear your situation.

ReplyDeleteYo, MP, you want a big sisfur? TW remembers when Autumn had cancer and her only symptom was loose stool and the occasional bommit. By the time she stopped eating, it was too late.

Hospice Fostering (or ownership) is such an amazing, unsung job. Anyone who does this is a true hero in our book!
ReplyDeleteAh, darn it. I'm so sorry to hear about that. We had two hospice cat cases at the shelter where I volunteer--in just one week. I'm happy to report that both got their forever homes. I'm hoping the same happens for Oreo.
