Meows from Mudpie!
This month I was SO excited to receive my email of review choices from Chewy.com and see some Pro Plan treats that I hadn't tried yet! (You all remember that Pro Plan treats are my favorite, right?)
February is Dental Health Month, so why not treat your pearly whites to something special? Any treat that supports your cat’s health while also satisfying their craving for savory flavors is one worth handing out regularly and Purina Pro Plan Dental Crunch Cat Snacks do just that. These treats are high in protein and omega-6 fatty acids and free of artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. Their crunchy texture helps clean teeth, freshen breath, and reduce tartar buildup.
You might be surprised to hear that I chose the lobster and scallop flavor (they also come in chicken and liver). Mommy was under the impression that I didn't care for fish, but I got some salmon treats in my Secret Paws package at Christmas and I loved them so much we've already had to buy another package!!! Apparently I'm not a fish girl when it comes to wet food (surprise, surprise!) but I love it in my treats!
Now kitty friends, I have a bit of a dilemma. The feeding guidelines on the package clearly states: "For optimal benefits, approximately 17 treats may be rewarded daily to adult cats weighting 5 or more pounds." How pawsome is that...the package actually gives us permission to eat 17 of these yummy (and quite large) treats per day!!! But my party pooper Mommy says that sounds more like a meal replacement than a treat. What do you think? Does 17 treats sound excessive or just the right amount?
(Note from Mommy: the feeding guidelines then go on to say, "The caloric intake from treats should not exceed 10% of your cat's total daily caloric requirement, and the amount of food given should be reduced accordingly as treats are administered.")
Pro Plan Dental Crunch Treats are currently on sale for only $3.25 a bag so make sure you remind your human to add them to your next Chewy order...after all, a healthy mouth is a healthy body!
Disclaimer: A package of treats was sent to us for free by Chewy.com as part of their Blogger Outreach Program in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are our own and we never recommend a product we don’t fully believe in.
We're excited to be linking up with the Chewy.com Blog Hop hosted by our good friends Oz the Terrier and Sugar the Golden Retriever.

I think 17 treats sounds like too few. ;)
ONLY 17 treats? That must be wrong!!!
The Florida Furkids
I'm glad you got to try these treats, Mudpie! They sound delicious. Now, as for the 17 treat recommendation - the furbabies in this house think that's not near enough, but the mom agrees with Melissa in that that sounds like a few too many for a single day's treat intake. This mom usually tries to stick to no more than 10 treats per kitty per day, and they rarely even get that many (I know, I'm horrible!!!). Thanks for the review, Mudpie and Melissa! Purrs!
My cats will shoot me for saying this but 17 treats a day is way too much unless you do use it as a meal. But they do sound healthy and should be good for the teeth.
Glad you liked the treats, Mudpie...sorry Mommy was a "party pooper". :)
M says she agrees with your human - 17 a day sounds like a meal. M would probably give me maybe 3 or 4 max. But I probably can't eat that kind anyway as they would be too hard for me cuz I have no teeth.
We've never tried these before, but they sure sound yummy! Though we've never seen any food or treat we didn't love!! Oh, and we definitely think 17 treats a day ISN'T ENOUGH!!! hehehe
Sorry Miss Mudpie, but I am on your Mom's side with this one. 17 is a lot of treats.
Is 17 treats a day the whole package? If not, it's not enough!
Sheesh! 17 treats is nothing! Those treats sound good.
Whoa! Lobster and scallops? Maybe I should buy them for TW.
We are glad you like the treats, Mudpie! We tried the chicken and liver ones, and we really like those!
