Meows from Mudpie!
Today is Meezer Colors Day, a day for all kitties to flaunt their colors with pride.
Tortoiseshell cats are known as gatas carey in Spanish, and they have a very special legend about how we got our unique colors. Last year Truffles shared the legend on Meezer Colors Day, and it's so beautiful that we wanted to present it again...but this year I asked Mommy to help me create a graphic with pictures of myself and Truffles to accompany the words.

This made me think of our tortie girl, Jezebel. We all miss her a lot.
I love this legend and wanted to include it in my book, but could never find out where it originated. "Hundreds of sunbeams inside the black cat" - what a beautiful way to describe tortie colors!
We've never heard this tortie legend before. How cool! It does look like a tortie is a black cat radiating sunbeams. :)
Well now, this certainly explains how lovely and sunny you are, Mudpie!
Loved it!
That was wonderful. I agree torties should be cherished- and all other colors too. Very nice photos.
Forgot about Meezer Day! Torties are so distinct. My mom had one and she was quite the character.
