We just found out that July 1st is National US Postage Stamp Day, and that's what inspired my artwork this week. The first postage stamp was issued on this date in 1847, but placing a stamp on a piece of mail wasn't mandatory until 8 years later. Prior to 1855 you could mail something unstamped and have the recipient pay for it!
We don't go through very many stamps at our house (Mommy pays as many bills as possible online and at the grocery store) but she does like to collect some of the special commemorative stamps that come out. Who thinks the US Postal Service needs to release a Mudpie stamp?

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader!
1. My next nap will be the best one ever. Of course I say that about every nap I take. Cats are napping experts, after all!
2. Fireworks are highly overrated. They don't really bother me but I know some animals find them really, really scary.
Mommy's answers:
3. Freedom isn't free. It's a phrase used frequently enough that some probably see it as a platitude, but it's the absolute truth.
4. This week, I am thankful to be an American. I always am but it's nice to have a holiday to celebrate our wonderful country too.
I'd buy some Mudpie stamps...oh yeah!
ReplyDeletePaws up to the Mudpie stamp! I have a couple of stamps with me in my Zazzle shop... Binga has one too!
ReplyDeleteCount me in for the stamps, Mudpie, it's a must have *paws up* Double Pawkiss for an artsy caturday :) <3
ReplyDeleteMudpie stamp! YES! We are loving your postal stamp collage, Mudpie. You are so smart. We're happy to know of this holiday and commend you for creating your own stamps!!!
ReplyDeleteYour stamps are lovely. I would buy them!

We love your stamps Miss Mudpie! Great artwork.
ReplyDeleteIf all stamps were adorned with adorable Mudpies, I would buy oodles of them! And fantastic fill-ins. The furbabies here aren't scared of fireworks either, but I feel so bad for those who are. One of my neighbors has an indoor/outdoor kitty, and he is terrified of fireworks, yet sometimes I see him out on July 4th and other noisy holidays. I can't stand to see him panic, and I have before taken him home so that he could be safe. And I'm right there with you on being a proud American!
ReplyDeleteWe would totally buy some of those beautiful Mudpie stamps! :)
ReplyDeleteYou should bother your mom for Mudpie stamps. I do them every year for Christmas. I think I have about 8 or 9 different CK stamps now.
ReplyDeleteA MudPie stamp sounds furbulous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art Miss Mudpie. And thank you both for these great fill-in answers. I am glad the noise from fireworks doesn't scare you.Very true for #3. Have a great weekend! XO
ReplyDeleteMudpie you really should have a stamp all your own!
ReplyDeleteWe would love to have a Mudpie stamp.
ReplyDeleteYes, where should be a Mudppie stamp. You are so right! Many pay for our freedom with their lives or limbs. Many pay by missing kids birthdays, Anniversaries, holidays and just setting down to dinner with their families!
ReplyDeleteThose are really cool stamps ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteWe vote yes for a Mudpie stamp. Mom used this a couple years ago with Calista Jo. Maybe she could have a stamp as well. One regular tortie stamp and one dilute tortie stamp! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
ReplyDeleteI think a Mudpie stamp would be a great one. :)
ReplyDeleteNaps are awesome. I hope that all of yours are great ones.
Have a blessed week and a wonderful 4th!
Yes, yes!!! I want to be able to buy Mudpie stamps!! So adorable!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art and great answers. I apologize for my lateness in responding. Although I read posts last week, with Chloe Jo in the hospital, it has been difficult. As I write this, she is back in the hospital for observation and tests. Thanks for understanding.
