Fun Feline Finds: Chatty Catties

There's an abundance of movies starring dogs, but cat-centric flicks are a little harder to find.

While browsing Amazon I stumbled on a new movie titled Chatty Catties which was released on major Video On Demand platforms just this week.

CHATTY CATTIES - Official Trailer (2016) from Smarthouse Creative on Vimeo.

Pablo Valencia’s debut feature film, CHATTY CATTIES, is a dark comedy set in an alternate world in which sassy tabby Leonard (voiced by John Autry) is at odds with his human roommate, Shelby (Megan Hensley), whose own emotional problems limit her abilities to provide for the most basic of Leonard’s needs. But when she begins a relationship with kind-hearted musician, Nate (Matthew Grathwol), Leonard sees a brighter future for both him and his owner, but it won’t come without a few emotional fireworks along the way.

What makes this project pretty cool is that it provided unique roles for deaf and hard of hearing actors, including John Autrey II (Glee), the star and voice of Leonard the Cat. The film studio also partnered with Hearing, Speech & Deaf Center (HSDC) in order increase accessibility in the arts.

I'm a sucker for anything with talking cats so I think this movie sounds like a lot of fun. It's rated R, so probably not for the kiddos, but it's a movie adult cat lovers might enjoy over the Labor Day holiday. I received a review copy that I hope to have time to watch this weekend, but if not it'll come in handy some chilly night when Mudpie and I are cuddling on the couch!

Chatty Catties is on social media too...

  7. That might be a little too close to my own life - not that I ever let that stop me. Bear changed everything for me - taught me to accept love (which came in handy in relationship to loving myself ... and letting The Boy love me) - showed me that my parents' legacy of selfishness and self-involvement was not my own (I managed to adjust myself to Bear's needs even when it made me uncomfortable and uneasy; with that tiny exception after his tumor -when I was too terrified I'd find another one - to pet him for a few weeks) - and he taught me how to do something other than just survive. Not bad for a little guy I encountered carrying the groceries in one day. Homeless, feral, stray ... whatever you want to call it ... if my life matters - so must his. It makes me sad to see all the kitties be euthanized for not having homes - so much potential for human healing and improvement - so much love extinguished because so many humans can't appreciate it!
