3rd Annual Mudpie 500 Zoomies Event

WOOHOO today I'm taking my Sunday Selfie
from behind the wheel of a moving race car!!!

(And the 2014 Sprint Cup Champion's car at that...just sayin'.)


It's no secret that Mommy is serious about her NASCAR. The Daytona 500 is next Sunday and she is ecstatic.

Since she always calls my zoomies the "running of the Mudpie 500" I decided to start hosting an annual giveaway to celebrate this national holiday in our house and to make it fun for me and my friends too!

My grandpa was in the hospital last week and Mommy didn't get a chance to go shopping for a prize package, so this year we're giving away a $15 PetSmart gift card! Since we typically pick out cat-related stuff this way my pals of all species can purr-ticipate! 


For a chance to win, simply leave a comment predicting the winning driver by midnight eastern on Sunday, February 18th. Don't forget to leave your email address too!

In the event that more than one of you pick the winning driver, we will draw a name from a hat. If no one picks the winning driver, we will move on to second place, etc., until a winner is chosen. Last year no one chose the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place driver, but our sweet friends The Florida Furkids picked 4th place driver Aric Almirola, and they won the prize!

Here's the thing about the Daytona 500: it's a total crap shoot so you don't need to know a thing about racing in order to predict a winner. It's known as a "restrictor plate race" which limits speed and increases safety, to provide an equal level of competition. The cars all run in crazy scary packs and winning is more a matter of luck than anything.

Back in 2007 our driver Kevin Harvick won the race. My grandpa's boss at the time stood to win $1,000 if Mark Martin won, and Martin was leading until the last turn of the last lap when Kevin came from 7th place to win by fractions of a second. It was a thrilling finish, but grandpa never told his boss that Kevin was our driver! Check it out:

    Oh my, sounds like a traffic violation nightmare! We are used to peace and quiet in the palace even on the television. Now if the had a Daytona Mouse 500 that would be awesome MOL Hope your driver wins!

    Oh, Mudpie, I just knew you'd be in that race car this week! I pick Kyle Busch, because he races for Joe Gibbs, who we respect a lot, and because he's sponsored by M&Ms! Hope your grandpa is doing better. :)

    Look at you go, Mudpie! You know, this here human used to watch NASCAR all the time as a kid, but somehow just got out of the habit. Anyway, we're going to go ahead and root for your good ol' Kevin Harvick, and we'll say that he's going to win. Purrs, and well wishes to your grandpa, Mudpie!

    Well, we're not into NASCAR that much so we don't know which drivers are good or bad. But we'll choose #22 because he's driving a Chevrolet.

    You must be my long lost sister. I am one of the biggest NASCAR fans ever. I have been to Darlington so many times, I can't even tell you. I also shelter elderly rescue cats. I have 11 at the moment. I have been in love with Jeff Gordon his whole career. I even named one of my cats after him. I will pick Truex, Jr. for the win, but Daytona is always tricky.     Your Mommy and our Mommy must be long lost sisters just like Misty. She even likes the same driver, #4 Kevin Harvick. So it's Harvick for the win. Thanks for the giveaway.     More love to Danica Patrick, but if I pick her and she wins, that's too many votes to split the prize...so for nostalgia's sake I'll pick the Earnhardt kid. Ralph and Dale should only have lived to *see* him win at Daytona.
