Over the past month I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to write a pair of articles for the Canidae pet food blog. A goal of mine has been to use Mochas, Mysteries and Meows as a launch pad of sorts to expand into freelance cat writing so our paws are crossed that I'll be asked to continue writing for them. I'm happy to say that my first article on debunking feral cat myths has had over 130 shares in just one week and has a good chance of being included in Canidae's monthly email of 10 articles with the most views!
While researching my second article on the pros and cons of sleeping with your cat I starting browsing through some photos of the sweet way Truffles used to spend part of the night curled up between my legs. (Mudpie prefers sleeping on top of or against them.) As the 3 year anniversary of losing her is in sight I'm doing better at focusing on the happy times when I think of her instead of just the soul-crushing grief and shock. That certainly still rears it's ugly head from time to time, and I still miss her more than words can say, but Truffles would want me to remember her with a smile and not a tear.

It makes me so angry that Truffles was ripped from your arms so soon. I can't see any good or silver-lining - no "it's for the best." It's just heart-breaking. She was such a special girl and you carry that with you always.
I'm glad you are remembering Truffles with more smiles than tears - it's a process. I know my human is still working on it with Sparkle, and she will always, always miss her heart cat before Sparkle.
Hugs. Although always missed, it does get easier. Thankfully, Truffles sent you Mudpie and my girls sent me Hope.
Congrats on your freelance gig! Your feral cats article is terrific (I shared it too). It does get easier to remember the happy times with cats who have gone to the bridge. Still, though, there are certain memories of my Darya that produce instant tears, and she's been gone for almost 12 years now.
What a beautiful angel you have in Truffles. I just love how you paired this Dr. Seuss quote with your sweet angel's photos and the Appreciate the Moments challenge. It all goes together so purrfectly!
Also, a congratulations on what is sure to be success in freelance cat writing! How exciting!
Feral cats/community cats need our help! Sending you purrs and hugs for Angel Truffles.
Nice to see you again, Angel Truffles.
That's so sweet to remember Angel Truffles on such a fun day ! Purrs
Yes, we are very certain you are glad Truffles happened. Our Mama says she is glad that all her angels happened but misses every one of them, every day. She still can't look at photographs of angels Isadora, Mitalee or Esme. It takes time to grieve and heal.It will take some time before she can look at those photographs again. Angel Truffles was a sweetie. XO

I am sorry you didn't have more time with your sweet Truffles. Congratulations on your articles! That is fantastic.
We’re glad you can remember sweet Truffles with more smiles than tears...though we know it’s never easy.
You lost Truffles much too soon. Congrats on your writing! catchatwithcarenandcody

What a great post idea for Lucky. Those we lose are never forgotten. Mom still has tears at times for her dog she lost15 yrs ago. We leave our paw prints on your heart forever.
Congratulations on your articles, Melissa! I enjoyed reading them!
And thank you for posting about Truffles. I choke up whenever you post about her, but I love to be reminded of her sweetness and preciousness too. I can't believe that it has been almost three years...Ok, here come my tears. Hugs and blessings to you and Mudpie...
