A few weeks ago I received an email from Chewy asking if I'd like to review PetSafe's FroliCat Flik interactive teaser toy. Is snow is white? I'm always available to try out new toys! Interactive toys like this have proven to be among of my faves so Mommy and I were super excited for it to arrive.
About the Flik:
Flik is an automatic teaser that throws then hides a string to entice your cat to play. Simply turn it on and watch your curious cat stalk Flik and try to capture the string before it pops back into the toy. Cats can’t resist trying to grab the “tail” flicking back and forth, just like a wild cat stalking hidden prey. No cat has ever had this much fun with an ordinary string before!
Key Benefits:
- Automatic teaser throws then hides a string to entice your cat to play
- Cats can’t resist trying to grab the “tail” flicking back and forth, just like a wild cat stalking hidden prey
- Perfect to set on the table, shelf, or floor for easy play or storage
- Shuts off after 15 minutes or after pressing the off button
- Requires 3 AA which are not included
As soon as Mommy pulled it out of the box I started batting the string around and got impatient that it took her too long to put the batteries in. Then she hit the ON button...and I just about freaked! We were both so disappointed but I was absolutely petrified of it, mostly because of the clunky noise it makes (we even looked on YouTube for videos of the toy, thinking ours wasn't working right!) As you can see in the video below I would actually flinch when the string popped out at me!
So I put my big girl pants on, determined to give the Flik a fair shot, and once I got used to its movements and noises, I started to become entranced by it! I got a bit closer and just let it do its thing.
It didn't take long before a funny thing happened - I became obsessed with the Flik! Now I sit in front of it whenever I want Mommy to turn it on (which is frequently), and sometimes I even pull on the string and stick my paw in the opening to see if I can turn it on myself!
I'm so happy I didn't give up on my new toy and braved it out!
A Word of Caution
Mommy wanted me to let everyone know that she never leaves me alone with this toy unsupervised. I love pulling and chewing on the string and while she doesn't think I could ever yank it loose, it's not worth the risk, so I only play with my Flik when we're together (which is fine because Mommy loves watching me have fun.) Safety first because a play session should never end at the emergency vet!
The PetSafe FroliCat Flik interactive teaser toy is currently on sale at Chewy.com for $19.95.

Paisley loves string, so I'm wondering if she would like this. I think she might be afraid of it at first just like you were, Mudpie! :)
We bet we would love this toy. It sure looks like fun.
Glad you decided you like it, Mudpie!
I did notice that it would shut off after a while. It's too bad they don't list this in the instructions as a feature.
Looks like it takes a little time to get use to the noise it makes. But now you can have all the fun you want with it now. Maybe next video we can really see your enjoyment. Have a great day.

Mudpie, you are so cute and we just love seeing you have fun! I almost requested one of these this month, but I chickened out because my kitties (especially Eddy) are 1000% string chewers. Eddy actually gets incredibly possessive over anything string-like, so I ended up not going for this. My kitties were not impressed with my decision. Purrs!
The inventors just keep on inventing stuff to entertain kitties!
Glad you like it now, my kitties flinched at first too, but got brave like you.
We have read about the "not leaving it out" part elsewhere. And since I am a string chewer that matters! ~ IZA
We're glad you stuck with it, Mudpie! It looks kinda fun!
That is very true about safety. Glad you warmed to the toy. TW didn't order it cos she knew it would make a noise like Cat's Meow and I wouldn't like it. For some reason we thought the string would come out further.
MOL! There's a kitty or two that would likely flinch at that string here too. But Sophie would be attacking it like crazy! And we agree, we have a string toy that hangs on a doorknob and it always gets put away when we're done.
