I was incredibly lucky that my parents took me to tons of concerts, and thanks to my friendship with a local DJ I even got to go backstage to meet several of them! Alabama, Clint Black, Ricky Van Shelton, Lorrie Morgan, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Vince Gill, Toby Keith...I could go on and on.
My all-time favorite has always been Conway Twitty, and in the spring of 1993 it was announced that he would be performing at the Vermont State Fair in September on the weekend of my 16th birthday. Needless to say, tickets were purchased immediately, but on June 5th he tragically and suddenly passed away. Tammy Wynette was announced as his replacement at the fair, and I adored her too, but my heart was still broken that I'd never get to see Conway in concert. It's hard to believe that was 25 years ago.
So what does this have to do with a cat blog? Our friends at Stunning Keisha challenged us to another "getting to know you" meme with a musical twist...answer the questions provided using only song titles from one artist or band. It's tough, especially when you have your heart set on using your favorite singer! I knew Mudpie was up to the task though, and I think she ended up doing a pawsome job interpreting the prompts...she even picked some of my favorites!

Although my human is definitely more of an alt-rock girl (I had to listen to a 90s band called Therapy? - yes, with the question mark - all the way to the pet expo yesterday), she totally agrees that the older, vintage country music is the real stuff. She even interviewed June Carter Cash once!
ReplyDeleteMum was not a fan of country music, but as she grows older she appreciates it more.
ReplyDeleteShe is still a rock and roll girl though ;)

I'll listen to just about anything except rap (ick!), but I definitely grew up on country and still love it. Conway Twitty was one of the greats! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, most of what is called country music, today, is junk! Give me classic country any day.
ReplyDeleteMy grandpa and dad used to play old-fashioned country music all the time. I did like many of those classics. Then I got a bit jaded after hearing modern country music. I should go back to those classics, though, because those are the real deal. Mudpie, you did a fantastic job using your mom's favorite singer for these pawsome answers! Each of the furbabies around here is going to be taking their turn doing this little challenge next week. They all agreed to use one of my favorite classic rock bands. Purrs to you, Mudpie and Melissa!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Mudpie! I love the TV show answer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the share. We are sad that your mom didn't get to see Conway Twitty is concert, but 25 years really has passed fast. Mudpie, you can put on a good country concert for your mom one day. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteWorld of Animals
I grew up on old country music. My parents loved Johnny Cash! And we watched Hee Haw all the time.
ReplyDeleteYou're ONCE ... TWICE ... THREE times a tortie, and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE you :) ~Bear Cat
ReplyDeleteHard to believe but TW loves old country and some bluegrass. Did you know the famous punk club CBGB's stands for Country Bluegrass Bllues? She saw Johnny Cash live, as well as Emmylou Harris. She really loves cowpunk like Jason & the Nashville Scorchers. This meme was tough. I wanted to use Nirvana so the show of my life would be "Territorial Pissings" (heh heh) but none of the others fit.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you didn't get to see Conway Twitty. You saw a lot of other great artists. Great answers Miss Mudpie.
