Meows from Mudpie!
It's a freebie week for the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop so we decided to devote it to the upcoming Father's Day holiday.
I sure hope all my kitty friends have a pop or grandpa as wonderful as mine is, and now I'm going to turn things over to Mommy to present a handful of our favorite Father's Day songs. (Hmmm...any guesses as to who she'll start with?)
You're right, Mudpie! No one will be surprised by my first choice, but this is seriously a Father's Day classic.
Alternatively, this is about a different kind of father - an absentee one. It's an amazing story song about a little 7 year old boy yearning for a man's influence in his life.
A couple songs that reflect my own feelings on my dad...
I rarely choose any non-country songs for these posts, but this one is an exception. The first time I heard it was a few years ago at my cousin's wedding. My uncle learned the song and sang it to her during the reception. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Do you have any special Father's Day plans for this weekend?
Any favorite songs that celebrate dads?
Awww, sweet songs for Father's Day.
ReplyDeleteI love your Daddy's Day edition! Great tunes and I'm sure my Daddy is rockin' to them in heaven! Thanks for ROCKIN' THE HOUSE & playin' along with Monday's Music Moves Me!!! hugs

How awesome that your grandpa was won over to the kitty side, Mudpie! I can tell how much you adore each other.
ReplyDeleteMelissa,
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites is by Al Martino "Daddy's Little Girl". It always brings tears to my eyes. Ahhh, "My Baby Girl" is indeed a sweet song. I can imagine there wasn't a dry eye in the place after such a tender moment on such a big occasion as a wedding. I cry at weddings. I'm such a sap! :) Thanks for joining us on the dance floor and for sharing such a lovely Father's Day tribute.
Your pics, with Grandpa, are purr-ecious, Mudpie!
ReplyDeleteAw, Mudpie, your pictures with your grandpa are simply too precious to handle! The furbabies around here love their grandpa, too (well, except Eddy, who is terrified of anything that moves and that is not her mommy). Evan loves time with his grandpa. When Evan was still very young and I lived with my parents, he would sit with my dad in his chair every night and watch TV with him. And it goes without saying that these songs are so touching. What wonderful selections!
ReplyDeleteawesome father's day setlist. Another great addition would be Cats In The Cradle.
ReplyDeletePeople who say that they aren't cat people, just never spent time with a good cat, eh Mudpie?!?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great selection of songs for Father’s Day, Mudpie. We can see you love your grandpa as much as he loves you.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa,
ReplyDeleteThis was a wonderful set of songs for Father's Day. I love Conway Twitty's voice. And Loretta Lynn. Some good old time Country. I can't tell you how many times I've echoed Loretta's words, "They don't make 'em like my dad anymore."
Your post made me cry, especially when hearing "That's My Job." I've been trying not to think about Father's Day as this is the second year without my Dad. He passed away suddenly here in my home while visiting in 2016. Congestive heart failure. He was a good man, a hard-workin' man, ethical, talented and loved by everyone who knew him. He loved me and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for me. I miss him. But I talk to him often. And he visits me in my dreams, thankfully.
A wonderful Freebie post celebrating the men who helped shape who we are...
Hope you're having a good week,
Michele at Angels Bark
I love your choices. That was a great idea for a theme. I like the song, I Loved Her First, for a father/daughter dance, I always cry for that song.
ReplyDeleteWe love your relationship with your grandfather, Mudpie. I can't imagine anything better.
ReplyDeleteGreat song choices for Father's Day! And, Mudpie, those pictures of you with your grandpa are so precious! :)

ReplyDeleteAww... I bet you are your grandpa's favorite. Hmm... Mom took a few photos of me and Dad together while we were relaxing. Maybe I could blow one of those up so he could hang it in his office at work above his desk. Purrs. -Valentine (& Mom) of Noir Kitty Mews
ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't be won over by you, Mudpie?
