Character Guest Post: Wizard the Cat from Connie di Marco's Zodiac Mystery Series

Julia Bonatti loves the freedom of working for herself as a professional astrologer. But after receiving several unexpected bills, she considers a temp job offer from her old boss a stroke of luck too good to pass up.

On her first day, the posh law office becomes a crime scene when one of the partners is found dead. Julia discovers that a series of death threats have been sent to several employees of the firm, and she uses her astrological expertise to discover possible motives. But before she can convince the authorities of what she knows, the killer strikes again. Will Julia unmask the culprit before he, or she, takes another life?

Character Guest Post by Wizard the Cat

Wizard here ~

Melissa’s invited me today so I could tell you all about myself.  And I agreed, because I know she’s a true lover of cats and can really appreciate how wonderful I am!

You see, I am absolutely gorgeous.  I’m sleek and all black, every bit of me, and I weigh a very impressive twenty pounds!  It wasn’t easy, it took a lot of special food.  I work very hard to keep my weight up and stay buff.  When people meet me, they stare in awe.  Actually, I think I look more like a magnificent ocelot (admittedly a first cousin) than an everyday house cat.  Everyday I am not!

I allowed my mistress, Julia, to adopt me.  She’s an astrologer and we live in a little comfy apartment in San Francisco out near the ocean in the fog.  Now I have a good life, I admit.  I’m well cared for, Julia makes sure I’m fed the very best of food, I’m brushed and cuddled.  She makes sure I get to all my vet appointments to keep me healthy.  And in turn, I protect the apartment and I guard her when her clients come to visit.  Believe me, I make sure they know I’m keeping a close eye on them when they’re in my domain.

It’s a hard job.  It takes all my concentration, so as soon as they’re gone and our apartment is quiet I head for a treat and a nap.  I like to nap.  I also like to roam the neighborhood at night, but Julia won’t let me.  She’s too overprotective.  She lets me run around during the day though.  One of my favorite things is to hop from our back stairs over to our neighbor’s roof.  The surface is very rough and I like to roll around on it to scratch my back.  We even have a little back yard with grass and I like to hunt among the hedges and flowers.

I don’t have a lot of friends because there really are no cats who are as beautiful and smart as I, but I have Julia and we have some great conversations.  I just wish she wouldn’t spend so much time solving crimes.  If she’d stop all that nonsense, we’d have a much more peaceful life.

Lately, I’m on guard and keeping watch.  There’s a man who’s interested in Julia and I’m not so sure I approve of him.  I let her know in no uncertain terms that I’m the only man in her life.

You can learn all about our adventures in any of the books of the Zodiac Mysteries.  And of course I have an important part in Tail of the Dragon¸ the third book, coming out soon (August 8, 2018).
