What Are You Looking For, Mudpie?

Note from Mommy: We need to apologize for the poor quality of these photos. They were taken very late at night, but when Mudpie started digging through one of her toy boxes, obviously looking for something in particular, it was so adorable I couldn't help snapping away.

ADORABLE that Mudpie sure is! It looks like she's got her eyes and paw on colorful beastie in that box of goodies! -Valentine (& Mom) of Noir Kitty Mews

We bet you were looking for the purrfect toy to bring to your mommy during the night. That's what Lexy does Every.Single.Night. She brings like 10!

I never thought outdoor cats needed toys. Other cats who've lived with me have ignored toys unless humans played with them. Traveller came with a collection. The toy I hung in the hedge, as recommended, he's ignored...but whenever I've tidied one little plastic-on-string piece over to a side of the porch, he's dug it out from whatever other porch clutter it was among and brought it back out to share with Serena. It doesn't smell of catnip, or anything humans recognize. My guess is that at first it smelled of Home and Mother, and now it smells of Fun with Foster Sister, for him. Anyway he's ignored the snake toy and the bell toy as well as the tetherball toy, but he and Serena have really played ball with the plastic mini-mouse, all summer.
