Mooning Over Mudpie #MewsicMovesMe

It's a freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop, and talk of the upcoming Blood Moon led us to our theme of the week...country songs about the moon!

"I Don't Know A Thing About Love (The Moon Song)" was a huge hit for Conway in 1984. It was written by one of country music's most prolific songwriters, Harlan Howard.

(You've probably noticed that for most musical selections I post official music videos or generic YouTube posts, but when it comes to Conway I post live performances whenever possible. That's because while hearing him is absolute heaven to me, hearing him AND seeing him is almost more than my little heart can take. I have a CD box filled with DVDs and VHS tapes of his TV appearances and live concerts. I'm always on the lookout for more, and whenever something I don't have is posted to YouTube I immediately burn it to DVD for my collection.)

A few other favorite "moon" songs...

We hope you enjoyed our choices this week!

Did anything catch your ear?

  2. Melissa,

Thanks for the heads up about the Blood Moon big event this Sunday. I read that 2.8 billion people around the globe might have a shot at seeing it. Unfortunately, our weather forecast looks gray. We're expecting rain so I'm sure we won't get the opportunity to witness this cool phenomenon. I love your theme for 'your choice song picks' week! You introduced a few new 'moon' song titles to my ears - furtastic job! Thanks for joining the 4M crew on the dance floor. Have a boogietastic week!

  7. I am in love with this moony image of Mudpie! How beautiful! And wonderful song choices. It had been forever since I heard a Pasty Cline song, so I'm glad you shared that with us. Happy Monday!

  11. Ha! Love the wide-eyed Mudpie-in-the-moon photo! Too cute. All the songs are wonderful, but the Toby Keith is my fave. He has such a rich voice.

  12. I can fully appreciate you wanting to see Conway as well as hear him, even if he's just sitting there singing.

Patsy Cline... wow. What a voice! I'm sure she could have done without catching scarlet fever, which gave her the voice... I think I fall in love again every time I hear her sing, even on a bluegrass classic like "Blue Moon Of Kentucky," complete with the one-octave hitch in her voice a la Bill Monroe.

    Good set!

  13. Whoa! Country singers are obsessed with that blue moon, aren't they? There's a moldy oldie rock song called "Blue Moon." TW has Patsy's Greatest Hits LP and we like Roseann cos she put the "c*nt in c*nt-tree." Her words not our's.

  14. Oh my, you do have a few don't cha, but I'm likin' dem for sure! Sorry I wasn't around Monday, but I had therapy Monday & when I got home I was so pooped. Not sure if you know, but I had back surgery 8-22 & my doc decided to wait 3 months before he started therapy for me.. plus not feelin' so hot.. so tonight I was up & thought I'd try to make the rounds. I must say out of these Rosanne Cash... great tune & naturally Patsy Cline always a favorite. Thanks for joining us. Hope you're havin' fun! You're duh best! hugs
