Book Review: 101 Essential Tips: Kitten or New Cat: Health & Safety by Dr. Jason Nicholas

Written by an ER veterinarian who has the experience and knowledge to help you keep your cats healthy, safe, and out of the ER, 101 Essential Tips will help you protect your kitty from a host of common illnesses, injuries, poisonings, and other problems, and save you time, money, and heartbreak in the process. 101 Essential Tips is written in an engaging and easy-to-understand format with fun illustrations and real-life stories sprinkled throughout to help you learn what you don't know, before your cat finds out for you... the "hard way." After all, you can't prevent what you're not aware of!

Even though I've been a cat mom my entire life, responsible pet parents know there's always something new to learn. I love books like this that are informative and fun too. I would go so far as to say a copy belongs in the adoption kit of every cat going home with their forever family. It hits on so many important topics, from feeding to litter box issues, cat-proofing your home, health and wellness, even things to look out for that might indicate there's trouble brewing. At the very end there are tips on how to prepare yourself for any emergency situations that might pop up over the course of your pet's life. Yes, there are many things your cat needs you to know, and this book covers 101 of them. The illustrations are super cute too, and I guarantee after reading it cover to cover you'll discover things you didn't know, no matter how cat-savvy you might be!

Sounds like a book that I need. I was in one emergency situation with Charlie when he had a blockage. At the time luckily I knew it was an emergency case so off to the vet we went. But there’s a host of things us cat parents don’t know. I think it’s important also for spouses and anyone in the household to know what to do in dire situations. Thanks for sharing!

That's one I'll bookmark for Mom to order for our bookshelf! One time she thought I swallowed up a some fishing line and rushed me to the V-E-T. My tummy was scanned for foreign objects inside, but there were none purr-esent, of course. Mom later realized that it was the Hoover that had swallowed up all the line, instead! Tee hee hee. -Valentine (& Kerry) of Noir Kitty Mews
