Since one of my favorite terms of endearment for Mudpie is "crazy pants" we decided songs with "crazy" in the title would be a good theme for this week's Mewsic Moves Me blog hop. It turns out crazy is a very popular theme in country music, so we just chose a handful. There may be a part 2 one day!
This 1990 music video is one of only two Conway ever did. He was never a fan of videos. His feeling was that with country music especially, we're meant to use our imaginations when we hear a song and apply it to our own lives, but when we get locked into a director's interpretation it can be a great disservice to the song. He definitely had a point because many times my feelings about a song changed after viewing it's video. That's not the case with this one though. Adore the song, adore the video, adore the man.
I'm Goin' Crazy And She's Just Goin' was a cut on his 1975 The High Priest of Country Music album. That was a title bestowed on him by comedian Jerry Clower, who said Conway's concerts were like a revival meeting of his female fans coming to worship him. WE STILL DO!!!
Patsy's Crazy...one of the most iconic songs in country music history...
I was never a huge fan of the Judds, but this has always been one of my favorite songs...
What song are you "crazy" over this week?
Good choice sweet Mudpie, we all do crazy well here!
ReplyDeleteWow , thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI get a little crazy pants here too! Good music choices. ~Ernie
ReplyDeleteMelissa,
ReplyDeleteSong titles with 'crazy' is a good theme and you picked mostly new-to-me songs. The only one I knew is Patsy Cline's 'Crazy'. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with the 4M gang. Have a boogietastic week! ;)
We know something about “crazy pants” at this house, too. Torties sure know how to have fun! :)
ReplyDeleteHow adorable! As you know, we are country music fans too. I never never heard about that blog hop, maybe cuz we don't post on Mondays. We love your album picks!
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute today Miss Crazy Pants! I love the song selections - thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love Patsy Cline. All your choices are great. I know these are not country, but I thought of Crazy Train and Madonna's Crazy For You.
ReplyDeleteLove all of these. I especially like "Crazy," because I love Patsy Cline. Willie Nelson wrote that, did you know that? I didn't until just a short while ago.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! CT and REM had the same thoughts about videos. REM refused to lip sync in them for years. The Replacements first videos were just of speaker cabinets blaring the songs cos the record company forced them to make them. Patsy Cline's "Crazy" is one of the few country songs that TW's always liked. BTW, REM has a song called "Crazy" too but it's actually a cover of the Pylon song.
ReplyDeleteMudpie, they call you crazy pants. That is just too funny. We love your selection of music you shared with us. Will always remember my dad with playing Patsy Cline's crazy all the time. Thanks for the share. Have a wonderful day.

I enjoyed your setlist. It ties in nicely with my Crazy Battle of the Bands tournament. Round two takes place on April 1.
ReplyDeleteWe get crazy pants here too, Mudpie ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteCrazy pants, huh? Maybe Cute and adorable crazy pants!
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, Mudpie, your nickname did lead to some mighty fine music finds! Don't feel too bad or alone, though, because certain kitties around here frequently get called "funky monkey" and other wacky names.
ReplyDeleteWe're crazy for you, Mudpie!
ReplyDeleteWhen she calls you that I think she's saying that your coat is crazy beautiful and unique in every way.
ReplyDeleteMy mom listened to those Judds all the time when she was in high school. She misses hearing their music and seeing their videos from those days. -Valentine (& Kerry) of Noir Kitty Mews
Aww, I'm sure you're no crazier than I, Mudpie . . . . . well at least for 23 hours of the day anyway. MOL

Of the set, besides the iconic Patsy Cline, I enjoyed the first Conway Twitty song the most. It really highlighted his voice, which, in the right context, is amazing. (I must admit here that I am not a fan of twangy guitars but I know there are millions of people who love that sound.) What song makes me crazy this week? Believe it or not, my earworm of the week is the song "America" by Simon and Garfunkel. I'll make good use of that soon! Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
