The theme of this week's Mewsic Moves Me blog hop is a playlist in which the first letters of the songs spell out LABOR DAY. In honor of the holiday I told Mudpie she could set aside her dust mopping duties to help me put together our playlist. We think you might notice a few all-time classics here!
L- Lonely Blue Boy, Conway Twitty
Yesterday would've been Conway's 86th birthday, so of course we're starting with him as always.
Lonely Blue Boy was his second biggest hit on the pop charts (after It's Only Make Believe), reaching #6 in 1960. The song led him to name his band the Lonely Blue Boys (they later became the Twitty Birds). This footage comes from an Oklahoma City TV show called Country Social in 1965, just as he was making the transition from rock to country.

Happy Labor Day!
Dad's not much of a country music fan but what caught our attention here was the "dust mopping duties". Dust mopping duties? Mudpie? Really?? What the-?
Great choices. Willy Nelson's Always on My Mind has always been a mom favorite. Happy Labor Day!
We like all of those tunes and I hope you don't have to labor too hard sweet Mudpie. Happy Labor Day!
Ode to Billie Joe is one of my favorite songs. Great playlist
Pretty girl, take it easy on the chores - it's a Holiday!
Don't work too hard Mudpie - it's a holiday! take some time to play
Miss Mudpie, I know there was a cat union that Austin ran, but I am not sure if it is still there. Great choices. I was too lazy to come up with so many songs. I love Always on My Mind.
You have a few real favorites there, including Glen Campbell, The Silver Fox, and Bobbie Gentry! Good list!
You did a great job. Always got to love some Willie Nelson in there.
Dont get in too much labor Mudpie
We like Bobby Gentry
Great list! I've always liked Charlie Rich, Bobbie Gentry, and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Thanks for playing along this week!
Mudpie, I think we should think about creating a National Tortie Day, since there are days for other cat colors and for humans too!
I love your picks, espicially Charlie Rich The Silver Fox!!!
Oh my gosh, I love so many here. Bobby Gentry, oh my gosh, Willie Nelson and of course Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Charlie Rich and yes Glen Campbell. Great job my friend. HAPPY LABOR DAY! WOO HOO GOTTA GO COOK & I THINK I'LL LISTEN TO THESE WHILE I'm doin' that!
Nice choices... But we try to do the opposite of dust-mopping. We bring to outside in and spread it around.
Happy No Labor Day! Take it easy (but take it)!
Happy Labor day!!DOn't work too hard Mudpie!
What a clever idea! Mudpie is obviously a VERY hard worker.
The music you share always brings back so many childhood memories. My dad and grandpa used to play this sort of music all the time, and I haven't heard some of these in years. We hope you had a purrrfectly relaxing Labor Day!
Melissa and Mudpie,
Y'all sure did pull out some all-time great country classics for this LABOR DAY mewsic party on the 4M dance floor. Glen Campbell was a smooth singing cowboy. Well, he never really made think cowboy but you know what I mean and Bobby Gentry...wowza do I love her sound. I don't think of her as a country singer but I think she traveled in the country star circle. Did you know that Gentry was once married to Jim Stafford? That was new on me. Thanks for joining the greatest dance party in cyberspace with the 4M crew. Have a boogietastic week, my furriends!
Mudpie, you shouldn't have to do any chores ever!
