Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and by people of Mexican ancestry. The multi-day holiday (October 31-November 2) focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars, honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts.
Colorful Day of the Dead statues can be easily found alongside Halloween decorations on store shelves, and over the past few years we've been adding many festive cat statues to add to our holiday decor. We thought you might like to see the pieces from our collection that are on display as part of our Truffles memorial area...
We hope you had a fun Halloween! Now how many days until Christmas???

Wow, you have an awesome collection of DoD kitties! Not so sure about their caretaker standing there in the middle though... ;-)

Our Halloween was pretty quiet.

Those sugar skull cats are what I hope my afterlife will be.
That's a whole bunch of creepy cool!
For someone like me who visits cemeteries when I travel, you'd think I'd be okay with Halloween and Dia De Muertos stuff, but it's really creepy!
How utterly cool!
oh my gosh- that's quite the collection!
That is a great collection of cats.
I got a few Day of the Dead cat statues this year and a throw and towel set!

Wow! You have quite the collection. Very cool.
That is a great collection. Is Summer's La Suegra visiting you? :)
Those are pretty cool. Does your mom know you're honoring Mexicans, MP?
It is always fun to see your collections! Mom only has a couple of Day of the Dead decorations, but we have lots of pussycat-themed All Hallows Eve items. In fact, Mom found a few new ones this year including a wood sign, an animatronic kitty with light-up eyes and head that turns, and a few other things. Purr purr purr.
Oh, I just adore your Day of the Dead decor! I especially, of course, love how many of them are kitties. I have gotten in the habit of collecting kitty Day of the Dead decor. In fact, the piece that started my collection was the one I won on your blog a couple years ago. That adorable piece got me obsessed! Purrs!
I love your decor! Your place looks so festive.
Really like the decor!!
