35 Years Ago - 1985, Ain't She Somethin' Else, Conway Twitty
Conway would frequently say he chose songs that said things women want to hear but men have a hard time saying. Then a man could put a quarter in the jukebox, ask his wife/girlfriend to dance, and give her a little squeeze at the point in the song that said what he wanted her to know. That's a formula that worked out pretty well for him, to say the least!
This song is classic Conway...

40 Years Ago - 1980, Years, Barbara Mandrell
Barbara Mandrell isn't an artist I typically choose for these posts, but this is a song that never fails to make me cry. It's about a break-up, but to me its words speak of losing someone in any capacity.
(Trivia time: Conway & Barbara Mandrell hosted a charity softball game for many years with proceeds going to the Sumner County Humane Society in Tennessee!)

Oh my gosh, I haven't heard Barbara Mandrell in like forever. I use to watch her show all the time cuz my mama wouldn't miss her show. My mama was little like her too & she would remind us of that. hahaha My mama was a card. Barbara had a couple sisters too & their show was very entertaining. Didn't she sing torn between two lovers feelin' like a fool... etc. Such a beautiful song. Barbara was a very emotional singer. Great job. Thank you for sharing. Never heard the other 2 songs. Very nice & have a great week. Thanks for playin' with us. hugs Have a great week.
Pretty neat choices for the country rewind.
That picture of you is the best though!

Melissa,
Boy, I remember the days of dropping a quarter in the jukebox! I didn't do it often but it was a treat when I did get to do it. It seems the roller skating rink that we went to had one that played nearly non-stop while I was there. I wasn't the best skater and often came away battered and bruised but boy, what fun! Whatever happened to Barbara Mandrell? As a kid, I loved watching her TV variety show with her sisters. They all three had beautiful voices and were quite the beauties to look at, too. TG Sheppard is another voice from my past. He had a few country pop tunes that I liked but I can't for the life of me think of what they were now. I guess I need to head over to YT to see if I can find 'em. Thanks for hitting the dance floor with the 4M crew, my furriends. Have a boogietastic week! ;)
I got reeled in by the cat picture, honestly.

I've never been a country music fan, but my son loves it. He moved to Nashville and low and behold, he got hooked on country music.
Very nice songs. Learning about country music here.
We enjoyed your tunes today and we hadn't thought of Barbara Mandrell in a long time too.
Anytime there's a song by Barbara Mandrell, that's my favorite. Good picks!
Barbara Mandrell, that’s a name I haven’t heard in awhile.
Great playlist
loved the music from Barbara Mandrell! Have not thought about her for awhile!
Those are all great choices.
Fantastic song choices, as always! And I was happy to learn that Conway and Barbara Mandrell hosted a charity event to support a humane society. Knowing something like that makes me automatically respect someone more.
We understand that you can't keep it dry with the song of Barbara Mandrell, Mudpie. It's beautiful hearttouching. We also like your other songs. Country mewsic always goes deep💗Snowfree Pawkisses for a Happy Tuesday🐾😽💞
Because I know people whose husbands (or ex husbands, or dead ex husbands) fought with the bottle, I vote for "Devil In the Bottle". It's so true, there's a devil in that bottle that wants to see the heavy drinker dead. To think that someone thinks the bottle is the only freedom they've ever known...how sad.
