The theme of this week's Mewsic Moves Me blog hop is songs about walking in honor of Take a Walk In The Park Day. With half the population under stay at home orders thanks to COVID-19, going out for a walk around the neighborhood to get a little fresh air has become more popular than ever, so the theme couldn't be more timely!
Conway's first success in the world of country music came not as a singer, but as a songwriter, when Ray Price had a top 10 hit with his song Walk Me To The Door.
This performance comes from an Oklahoma City show called Country Social in 1965, the year he made the transition from rock to country.
Seems as though walking has long been a popular topic in country music.
Here are a few more selections!
Where are you walking to these days, and what mewsic are you listening to while you walk?
Usually I announce that another month has flown by, making it time once again for the Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop, but this month has just dragged on endlessly, don't ya think?
Last month I was one of the lucky winner's of my friend CK's Furbie giveaway. I was super excited when it arrived, but Mommy was so busy between work and family obligations that she set the package aside for over a week before opening it!
Thankfully the toy was well worth the wait...but the pictures Mommy took when Furbie and I "met" we instantly knew were bound for the blooper reel. That's what happens when you attempt a photo shoot late on a Friday night.
Going in for the kill...after this it was pointless for Mommy to try and get more photos. I went bonkers.
Then something horrible happened. Mommy went to bed, I didn't, and by the next morning Furbie was lost. She remained AWOL for a solid week before Mommy found her while cleaning and we were reunited. Those pictures turned out even worse as Mommy attempted to hold the toy in one hand and the camera in the other. Just hand it over, Mommy!!!
Those are my bloopers...let's see yours! We need a good laugh now more than ever!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs! Mommy's answers:
1. Lately, I have done a lot of handwashing. Aren't we all? Thankfully this was common practice for me anyways, I'm just doing it even more than usual.
2. I can't help but worry about the future. These are scary times and a light at the end of the tunnel seems very far off.
Mudpie's answers:
3. My buns are cute. Mommy tells me so.
4. When I meet a stranger, I am very friendly. Mommy and I are very different in this way. She's cautious and keeps her distance, but I enjoy meeting new people. I just know they'll adore me!
Life as we know it has completely changed over just the past week. It's an incredibly scary and uncertain time for everyone. My main fear is for my elderly parents, both with serious underlying health issues, especially if I were to get sick and risk passing it along to them.
I'm very fortunate to work in an office with only 2 other people, but I also have the freedom to work from home if need be (which my wonderful employer has encouraged me to do, but so far I've resisted.) My heart hurts for so many in the service industry who have no choice but to wait this out with no paychecks coming in. While I rarely go to restaurants, I follow most of the cat cafes on Facebook, and as they've shut their doors one by one over the past week, I can't help but wonder how many of them will never reopen.
In times like these we need our feline friends more than ever. Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue sent us this infographic which contains important information that every cat parent needs to know. It also helps to dispel some of the myths floating around that are leading people to dump their pets at already overcrowded shelters.
My greatest wish is that we're overreacting and this will all be over soon. In the meantime we have more time to spend with our cats, which is never a bad thing.
How are you and your cats handling our "new normal"?
Yes, we still have a small tabletop tree up in the living room. It provides an extra source of light and comfort during the dreary months after the holidays. Typically it comes down by now but with the challenges we're all currently facing, it's staying up. If there was ever a need for added comfort and light, it's now. Purrs that everyone is staying safe.
The theme of this week's Mewsic Moves Me blog hop is "songs to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and Ireland."
Conway's version of Danny Boy begins in the way we're used to hearing it -- somber and mournful -- but it quickly transforms into a joyful, late ‘50s rock classic. It was one of Conway's biggest rock hits, but didn't fare so well across the pond. It’s among the songs that have been banned by the BBC!
We decided to change the rules of this week's theme a bit for the rest of our playlist, and present a few country singers that hail from Ireland...
We hope you enjoyed our choices this week! Do you have any favorite Irish tunes?
1. I know I am sick when I don't feel like doing any of my favorite things. If I'm not interested in reading or writing, listening to Conway, or shopping, I'm sick. I would add playing with Mudpie to that list but I would do that regardless of how I felt...for her.
2. For St. Patrick's Day, I don't do anything special. I'm French, not Irish, so sometimes I rebel and wear red LOL.
Mudpie's answers:
3. It's been a long time since I had to fend for myself outside. Mommy says I'll never have to again!
The theme of March's CatLadyBox was Cat Cafe...here's what was inside!
Featured Cat Lady Artist Helga Lukas: Because of the musical notes and coffee beans this is one of my favorite art cards so far.
Cat Lover Coffee Mug: I have so many cat coffee mugs I could probably use one per day for a year and never have to duplicate! But most are too cute to use and instead are displayed on a shelf, like this one will be.
"Pet All the Cats" Shirt: If I'm ever fortunate enough to visit a cat cafe I'll be wearing this shirt!
Pretty Cat Butt Coaster Set: Love the colors and embroidery on these coasters! Whimsical works of art.
Marshmallow Paw Catnip Toy: Mudpie says, "Purrfect for bopping!"
Swizzle Stick Wand Toy: I love how this wand toy comes with a choice of fabrics. My favorite is the animal print, of course. Mudpie doesn't have a favorite as long as it does its job and swings through the air.
Disclosure: I receive a discount on my CatLadyBox subscription as a thank you for my monthly review. Regardless of compensation received, we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers.
Last year we premiered our mewsic feature "Retro Country Rewind," a look back at favorite songs that hit #1 during that month from 30, 35, 40 plus years ago. In this new year we'll be delving into #1 hits from 1970, 1975, 1980, and so on. Let's take a look at March for this freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop...
50 Years Ago - 1970, The Fightin' Side of Me, Merle Haggard My second favorite Haggard song, taking a backseat only to If We Make It Through December...
45 Years Ago - 1975, Linda On My Mind, Conway Twitty One of Conway's biggest hits. Who was this mysterious Linda he wrote about? He would never tell...
40 Years Ago - 1980, I'd Love to Lay You Down, Conway Twitty I had no choice but to choose two Conway songs this month, as this is another of his most beloved classics. I love the audience's reaction in this video from an award show. Their screaming had him chuckling through the song...
35 Years Ago - 1985, Seven Spanish Angels, Ray Charles & Willie Nelson
Story songs were the theme of this hop a few weeks ago. This would've been a great addition to any playlist.
30 Years Ago - 1990, Chains, Patty Loveless
This is the song that turned me into a huge Patty Loveless fan when I was a teenager.
1. I won't pay more than $15 for a bottle of Excedrin. Excedrin is my go-to medicine for whatever ails me, from headaches to colds to general aches and pains. For years I've bought 200 count bottles at Amazon for around $15. (My mom goes through a lot of it too and we share the bottle.) Recently Excedrin was temporarily pulled off shelves for quality control issues, and Amazon hiked the price of their remaining stock to over $40 a bottle! My solution? I now buy the Walgreens store brand version. It works just as well and is even cheaper!
2. The last time I cried was earlier today. It's been a really, really, really stressful past few weeks and it's made me a weepy mess.
Mudpie's answers:
3. I recently had the opportunity to sniff some fresh air. Might spring be right around the corner? Mommy hopes not, but I sure do!
4. The opening of a new squeezie is cause for celebration. (Mommy has her Conway addiction; I have my squeezie addiction.)
Check out what Angel Truffles was blogging about 5 years ago this week...
One day during the holidays Mommy had a lot going on in the kitchen, and in order to make more room on the stove she set the tea kettle down on the floor. Suddenly she heard what sounded like me drinking out of my water bowl...only I wasn't at my water bowl. I was drinking the warm water left in the tea kettle!
Mommy didn't freak out or anything...she actually thought it was cute and encouraged me to do it again for a picture! Now every now and then when she's working in the kitchen I'll look up at the stove and she puts the kettle down for me.
But that's just between us, okay?
Now I'm sure some of you reading this might think this was rather unsanitary, but I must confess that I, Mudpie, have picked up the same habit! Mommy just doesn't have photographic proof - yet.
Thankfully it really doesn't bother Mommy at all. Obviously she tosses the water out afterwards, and she says she's much more freaked out by the Coronavirus than anything she might catch from my little tongue!
What say you? Would you let your kitties partake of tea kettle water?
The theme of this week's Mewsic Moves Me blog hop is "Fun Facts About Names Day. Pick songs that have a NAME in the title."
Conway had a lot of songs with women's names in the title: Linda On My Mind, Rose, Julia, Georgia Keeps Pulling On My Ring, Burn Georgia Burn, Play Ruby Play, just to name a few. Julie was an album cut never released to radio but I wish it had been a single because it's such a tender, beautiful song. There's a vulnerability in the lyrics and in his voice that most men would be afraid to show.
A pair of all-time country classics...
I bet you didn't think I could incorporate Mudpie into this week's name challenge! The first time I heard this song on the radio a few years ago I couldn't stop laughing because I often call Mudpie either Mud or Miss Mud. Every now and then I sing part of the chorus to her. She's not amused.
We hope you enjoy our choices this week! Is YOUR cat's name in a song?
Today we're taking part in the annual celebration of Dr Seuss' birthday, also known as National Read Across America Day. While it's customary to dress up in the Cat in the Hat's signature red & white striped hat, Mommy's favorite Seuss creation is the Grinch (which really makes no sense because no one loves Christmas more than she does!) In honor of this fun holiday, this little tortie got to visit Whoville!
A few years ago I asked Mommy to write a little ditty for me to the tune of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch". For new readers who may have missed it, here's what she came up with!
You're a cute one, Miss Mudpie
You really make us squeal!
You're as scrumptious as an eclair
And you're worshipped far and near,
Miss Mudpie
I have it on very good authority that you're a...big meowing deal!
Mommy says she just can't understand it. I'm the happiest kitty she's ever known, yet in every selfie in look perturbed and grumpy!
This time around I have a very good excuse. Our neighbor is laid up following hip replacement surgery, and yesterday she asked Mommy to pick up some cat food for her at the grocery store.
I think most kitties would look grumpy seeing a bag of cat food heading out the door...and I think there were some squeezies in that bag too!
Note from Mommy: There were NO squeezies in the bag. Our neighbor kitty has fish allergies and can't eat Mudpie's favorite squeezies.
We're joining our friends at The Cat On My Head for the Sunday Selfies blog hop!
