Where's Tech Support Kitty When You Need Him?

On Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 my Internet died. There was no hint of it's imminent demise, one minute it was working fine, then it was gone.

I waited a couple hours assuming there was an outage of some kind, but after dinner I figured I'd better contact my ISP. There were no outages. Thankfully I had reached a very nice, patient technician who walked me through a number of things to check, none of which worked.

He scheduled a man to come Wednesday morning to check my outside DSL line which was found to be crystal clear. I reset my router and started it up again with no trouble (except for the whole lack of Internet access thing). I replaced the ethernet cable - still nothing. Through process of elimination my ISP is assuming the problem is with their modem, and a new one is being delivered (hopefully) today, Friday.

Could there be a worse possible time to be without the Internet??? I've been beside myself trying to function with just my phone. For someone who barely knows a modem from a router this has been stressful beyond belief, and poor Mudpie has all her paws crossed that the new modem solves our problems!

Note from Mudpie: SEND HELP!!! Mommy has been in complete meltdown mode for nearly 72 hours now! She's impossible to live with when she can't be checking eBay every 2.5 minutes!!!

Feline Friday is simple to join. All you have to do is:

Post a picture, drawing, cartoon or video of a cat (They may be silly or cute).

We had a similar problem. It ended up being a problem with my computer. For some reason, it would connect right away upon starting - but if the computer went to sleep, it wouldn't connect for more than 10 seconds afterward. I essentially had to shut down and reboot the computer every time it went in sleep mode (I turned sleep mode off). We got a new modem and that made no difference. I had that computer for close to 10 years, so it was at the end of its life anyway and all problems went away when I got my new computer. The issue had to do with the settings for the computer to connect after sleep mode. I couldn't fix it - even after searching for hours online on how to. Hopefully the modem will be enough. On the plus side, we got a new modem for free and our internet is MUCH more reliable now!

I hope you'll be up and running very soon. I can only imagine how stressful this is. Not being able to connect to the outside world right now has to rank right up there with the most stressful life events!

Computer/internet problems rank up at the top of my list of things that make me go INSANE too!
Hope the new router will solve the problem.

Internet troubles are the WORST!! We have posted some of those funnies (or ones like them) when we had trouble too. I am assuming this post means that everything has been restored? Sure hope so!
