August Retro Country Rewind #MewsicMovesMe

Last year we premiered our mewsic feature "Retro Country Rewind," a look back at favorite songs that hit #1 during that month from 30, 35, 40 plus years ago. We have so much fun gathering the songs for it and hope you enjoy our selections.

Let's take a look at August for this freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop...

55 Years Ago - 1965, Yes, Mr. Peters, Roy Drusky and Priscilla Mitchell

I had never heard of this song before I started listening to Willie's Roadhouse on Sirius XM, and I don't know anything about the singers either, but it's so creatively done.

45 Years Ago - 1975, Just Get Up & Close the Door, Johnny Rodriguez

40 Years Ago - 1980, Stand By Me, Mickey Gilley

(From the Urban Cowboy soundtrack)

35 Years Ago - 1985, Real Love, Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers

35 Years Ago - 1985, Love Is Alive, The Judds

Let us know if you have a favorite this month!

A lot of my favorites here. Love, love, love the Judds & Dolly & Kenny too! I love that song "Stand by me"! So pretty! The first song I've heard one similar to that one, but I don't remember this one. Great job today! Hope you have a great week and thanks for joining us girlfriend. Stay safe & healthy!

It is amazing how simple the lyrics and melodies were in 50's & 60's country music. Johnny Rodriguez was such a great talent and Mickey Gilley took a Motown hit and turned it into a country classic. Great playlist this morning. Thanks for sharing with us. Have a blessed week.

M&M,

Thanks for joining the 4M gang on the dance floor with your choice song picks for this week. Dolly & Kenny partnered well, didn't they? I'd love to meet Dolly. She's such a sweetheart! Your country flavor offers a little variety to the mix. Stay safe, be well, and have a boogietastic week, furriends! ;)

Those ate all great choices. But we happen to love the Judds, so we'll go with them. :)

My favorite was Stand By Me, which is such a tremendously good song. Has it already been that many years since Urban Cowboy? Wow....Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
