Christmas in July Wrap Up

As I sit here typing this Isaias is knocking at our door, predicted to pass right over my town. I'm worried sick about a repeat of Halloween when we got 4" of rain and my basement had tons of water in it. I've replaced my window well covers and have the wet vac plugged in, ready to go, hoping to not get caught off guard this time. It's been such a long day just waiting for the storm to arrive, I can't wait until it's outta here!

Storms like this with heavy rain are one more reason I *hate* summer. Give me a good ol' snowstorm anyday!

Today we want to thank our sweet friend Ellen at 15 and Meowing for her surprise Christmas in July gift that arrived last week. Mudpie got a precious pink fishie that she absolutely loves, and I got Grumpy Cat footie socks and note cards!

Among other things Ellen and I share an intense dislike of summer and a love for all things Christmas and Grumpy Cat. Her package was the purrfect way to end Christmas in July!

UPDATE: Thankfully by the time the storm reached northern Vermont it was losing steam. We got over 2" of rain throughout the day and into the evening but it was nowhere near as bad as I feared. On the plus side, we got a fabulous north wind blowing through!

  1. Your heartfelt words hit home. As a summer person I am lucky I don't have your challenges and I like the warm but it's not like your warm or hot AT ALL.

I love your gift, how sweet to have such a friend. Ellen sent Harvey a Toothfair gift and he and I were so proud.

I am glad you are safe. Stay well you two.

  5. The storm pretty much fizzled for us (which we're okay with). We only got 1/4 inch of rain here in Florida.

    What great gifts!

  7. Dodged a bullet, I'd say!
Mudpie, Sweetie ADORES her Ellen fishy toy too; in fact, I sleep with it almost every night, because she really likes to bring her toys to bed!

  11. Those gifts are great, Mudpie. We are glad the storm was not so bad for you and Mom. We had a bunch of damage and a lot of power outages here in our area. But we personally only lost power for 5 hours, thank goodness.
