Jiving Around the Jukebox in Rocktober #MewsicMovesMe

In addition to being a country girl I've always enjoyed the early rock & roll music of the late '50s and early '60s. This is one of the many reasons why I love Conway so much...he's the best of both worlds! I'm just crazy about that whole era and have often felt that I was "born too late." (Strangely enough, my mom was a teenager in the '50s and wasn't crazy about it. She's more of a roaring '20s kinda gal!)

It's Rocktober in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop, and the challenge is to choose a decade and build a playlist of rock songs from that period. So let's take a trip back to the '50s and jive around the jukebox, beginning of course with my one and only...

We hope you enjoyed our choices this week!
Let us know if you have a favorite, and what your preferred era of rock music is!

  1. Oh yeah, great tunes and all tunes I use to hear from my brother's room or when he was in the basement practicing his drums. Thanks for bringing my brother's era back and sweet memories of him. Junior died early in his life at 42 of a heart attack, but he left me with beautiful memories. So thank you for that brief moment with him once again! You're a peach! Hugs!

  3. M&M,

I wasn't born yet when these songs released. The 50s was the era of my mother's childhood/teen years. She was born 1945. I remember in Junior High & High School for homecoming week we'd do a different theme and a favorite for everyone was the 50s. That was so much fun! Your song picks are energizing classics. Thanks for sharing the 4M dance floor with us this week, furriends. Have a boogietastic!

  10. Great choices! The 50s was my late Dad's decade and he had a great selection of records that I used to play. Elvis has always been my fave from that era.

  12. I will now have "Great Balls of Fire!" stuck in my head all day, and I'm totally fine with that.

  13. You really sent me with this playlist. I was born in the early 50's so I know all of these songs. Great Balls of Fire! Dion DiMucci and I both grew up in the Bronx (not the same part or at the same time, lol) and doo-wop is such a part of my Bronx heritage. What else can I say? You even worked your favorite singer of all time into the mix. Well done! Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  14. You've picked the best lineup of awesome vintage tunes! When we lived in PA, my hubby was part of a country band for over 9 years - they typically played at VFW's and AMVETs, so naturally they played a lot of these tunes by request. Such fun memories you've stirred up! :) Thanks for the dance!
