WOOHOO today I'm taking my Sunday Selfie
from behind the wheel of a moving race car!!!
(And the 2014 Sprint Cup Champion's car at that...just sayin'.)
Since she always calls my zoomies the "running of the Mudpie 500" I decided to start hosting an annual giveaway to celebrate this national holiday in our house and to make it fun for me and my friends too!
For a chance to win, simply leave a comment predicting the winning driver by midnight eastern on Sunday, February 14th. Don't forget to leave your email address too! We'll be giving away a $10 PetSmart gift card so my pals of all species can purr-ticipate!
In the event that more than one of you pick the winning driver, we will draw a name from a hat. If no one picks the winning driver, we will move on to second place, etc., until a winner is chosen.

Here's the thing about the Daytona 500: it's a total crap shoot so you don't need to know a thing about racing in order to predict a winner. It's known as a "restrictor plate race" which limits speed and increases safety, to provide an equal level of competition. The cars all run in crazy scary packs and winning is more a matter of luck than anything.
Back in 2007 our driver Kevin Harvick won the race. My grandpa's boss at the time stood to win $1,000 if Mark Martin won, and Martin was leading until the last turn of the last lap when Kevin came from 7th place to win by fractions of a second. It was a thrilling finish, but grandpa never told his boss that Kevin was our driver! Check it out:
Good luck, have fun, and may the best man Kevin Harvick win!!!
Our mom was into baseball.

How fun! I don't want to enter because I hope the prize goes to a kitty who really needs it!
ReplyDeleteKevin Harvick is my man also. I hope he wins the entire championship. (jozywails@gmail.com)
ReplyDeleteWe will go with Denny Hamlin. We like Joe Gibbs here in Washington DC.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea, so I vote for Mudpie and her zoomies! ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck to your driver and all the cats choosing today :)
ReplyDeletePurrs, Julie
Even tho we used to live just down "the road a-piece" (as they say) from Daytona ... never
ReplyDeletefollowed the races!!! We'll vote for Mudpie to win ... tho we suggest she put her paws on the wheel please!
And June says she needs a helmet!
We didn't realize it as today, we say Kyle Larson will win.
ReplyDeleteMudpie. you are the coolest. Look at you in your car!
ReplyDeleteWe'll go with Denny Hamlin this year.
We'll be watching and we pick Kyle Busch - Chip Ganassi Racing! Start your engines Mudpie!
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent give-a-way! We concatulate the winner (of the car race and the contest). May you and yours today be filled with fun!
ReplyDeleteWe are going with Ryan Newman! Yep we are. Thanks for the reminder so we watch next week
ReplyDeleteI won last year with #17 so I will stick with that. :) XO
ReplyDeleteWe at our house love NASCAR. We are a NASCAR family. We started watching NASCAR in 2001 when Dale Earnhardt Sr. Crashed and died. What a way to start. We decided it would be more fun if we chose a favorite driver to win. We chose Tony Stewart. That was good until he retired and became part owner. Now I root for anybody on Stewart-Haus team but if I have to choose 1 driver then I choose Kevin Harvick. I want him to win.
ReplyDeleteDaisy Mae and I want Kevin Harvick to win also so he's our choice.
We will be watching that's for sure.
Thanks for reminder
I hope Kevin Harvick wins so I Win.

OOps forgot to give you our email in case our driver Kevin Harvick wins.
ReplyDeleteEmail is: don.stewart@zoominternet.net
Hmm I am guessing YOU have a favourite Mudpie!!
ReplyDeleteI will share your celebratory giveaway1
Mudpie, I have to confess, Mom and I know nothing about race cars, but ever once in awhile we'll watch a race on the black moving screen. I choose Mr. Briscoe No. 14 to win, since Valentine's Day is on the 14th. Tee hee hee. Purr purr purr.
ReplyDeleteI know nuthin' 'bout racing, but I've been to both Daytona and Indianapolis racetracks! I kissed the bricks too.
ReplyDeleteI watched NASCAR with my dad as a kid, but now I haven't watched it in years. After Dale Earnhardt's crash, I got a bit nervous to watch it. Though we know Mudpie would win if she were allowed to race in more than the Zoomies 500, I'll pick my lucky number 9 and go with Chase Elliot. Deep down we're rooting for your guy Kevin Harvick, though. Purrs!
ReplyDeletei dont know much abt racing, but i know Joe Gibbs from the Washington football team, he was coach when i lived in N Va. and i knew some of the players. so i will go with Denny Hamlin -Joes Gibbs racing. thank you. sw27487@gmail.com
