March Retro Country Rewind #MewsicMovesMe

It's been a couple years since we premiered our mewsic feature "Retro Country Rewind," a look back at favorite songs that hit #1 during that month from 30, 35, 40 plus years ago. This year we're delving into #1 hits from 1971, 1976, 1981, and so on. Let's take a look at March for this freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop...


50 Years Ago - 1971, After the Fire is Gone, Conway & Loretta

An important song in the history of country music - Conway & Loretta's first single as a duo. 
It hit #1 and went on to win a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group...


35 Years Ago - 1986, I Could Get Used To You, Exile


35 Years Ago - 1986, What's A Memory Like You (Doing in a Love Like This), John Schneider

I'm such a huge fan of John's voice and wish he had stayed with country music. 
Conway also recorded this song but never released it as a single. 


30 Years Ago - 1991, Loving Blind, Clint Black


30 Years Ago - 1991, I'd Love You All Over Again, Alan Jackson

    Ouch. I remember a couple of those songs coming out! I'd complain about being old - but I know your Mommy is the same age as me ... so we'll just keep that number to ourselves.

    The Alan Jackson song rings true for me. In May we will celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary and if I had it to do all over, I'd do it all over with her. Yes, I would. Thanks for sharing this song.

    Two nice surprises here. First, Exile, whom I knew from their rock days. (That was my favorite song of your set, truth to tell).
