It's been a couple years since we premiered our mewsic feature "Retro Country Rewind," a look back at favorite songs that hit #1 during that month from 30, 35, 40 plus years ago. This year we're delving into #1 hits from 1971, 1976, 1981, and so on. Let's take a look at June for this freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop...
60 Years Ago - 1961, Hello Walls, Faron Young
This song was #1 for NINE weeks!
45 Years Ago - 1976, I'll Get Over You, Crystal Gayle
How many of you know Crystal Gayle is Loretta Lynn's younger sister?
40 Years Ago - 1981, What Are We Doing In Love, Dottie West & Kenny Rogers
35 Years Ago - 1986, Mama's Never Seen Those Eyes, The Forester Sisters
35 Years Ago - 1986, Living in the Promiseland, Willie Nelson
I remember "Hello Walls". Personally I think it's a very sad song. Crystal Gayle is definitely one of a kind. Kenny Rodgers is another one of a kind and the best of his kind for sure. He's definitely one of my favorites. Kenny Rodgers & Dottie West I heard they made a lot of records together in the day. I must say his voice was a bit different when he was younger & he really didn't have much of a part on this record did he? hmmmm
What a great collection of country music history. Thanks for the trip in the "Way Back Machine".
