Summertime Blues

Meows from Mudpie!

More summer drama at our house. Wednesday night our portable air conditioner (that's only 3 years old) started acted funny. The compressor (we think) started dying down when the room was nowhere cool enough for it to do so, and the air coming out the vents was no better than what you would get from a fan. Mommy turned it off, waited a few minutes to turn it back on, then it would be okay for about a half hour before dying down again. After 3 times of doing this she gave up and turned it off.

She unplugged it overnight, both for safety reasons and to see if that might reboot it, but if it's no better when she gets home from work today (Thursday) she's going to have to put our window unit in. She's very thankful we have a backup, but having to struggle with a heavy window AC kinds of defeats the purpose of why she bought a portable one in the first place!

If anyone needs me, I'll be melting on my pizza box until the problem is fixed.

  2. How frustrating! Summertime a/c issues are far from fun. Our a/c stopped blowing cool air a couple weeks ago. A freon refill has kept it going since then, and we hope that temporary fix can at least get us through this summer. We're sending you lots of cool wishes!

  3. I hope you can keep cool! You look very cute on your box.
Very few homes in the UK have air conditioning. The South and Southeast gets the highest temperatures, but here in the Westcountry a normal summer temperature is around 65.Yesterday was 70 and it is forecast to reach 80 over the weekend! We will have all doors and windows open hoping there will be some breeze to blow through.

  4. Oh, poor Mudpie (and Melissa)! I hope Mommy can get that window unit in, they’re heavy! In the meantime, staying on the floor, on your pizza box, sounds like a good idea.

  6. Mudpie, please don't melt!
Here's hoping a solution is found, that doesn't require lifting a window a/c unit up! They can break one's back.

  8. That would make us mad. We are so lucky our AC units are old but run fine. Hoping for a few more years.
Those Pizza Boxes hold melted cat really well, no drip through, except Rumpy of course that boy always causes problems MOL

  13. We are melting here too, and our human takes the portable coolness back to the basement too fast, and won't carry it back up until she's too hot, not us. She doesn't have fur and doesn't understand!
