It's been a few years since we premiered our mewsic feature "Retro Country Rewind," a look back at favorite songs that hit #1 during that month from 30, 35, 40 plus years ago. In this new year we'll be delving into #1 hits from 1972, 1977, 1982, and so on. Let's take a look at February (we're a little behind!) for this freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop...
55 Years Ago - 1967, Don't Come Home a Drinkin', Loretta Lynn
50 Years Ago - 1972, It's Four in the Morning, Faron Young
45 Years Ago - 1977, Near You, George Jones & Tammy Wynette
40 Years Ago - 1982, Only One You, T.G. Sheppard
35 Years Ago - 1987, I Can't Win for Losin' You, Earl Thomas Conley
Being a blogger myself I can appreciate your article very much, I am in the process of opening my own online store with pet related product and supplies, but until then I am learning so much from article such as yours for when I start my own pet blog
I enjoyed your country music set this morning. TG Sheppard is perhaps my favorite artist in your line up but the others have my deepest respect for their talented voices and amazing story telling. Thanks for joining the 4M dance floor, my dear. Have a boogietastic week! ;)
Excellent choices! It's hard to believe how far way the 80's were now. I didn't get into country music until the 90's, but that's because of my age. These are great choices - especially Loretta Lynn. -Purrs from your friends at www.PlayfulKitty.net
My favorite is "Only One You". I have enjoyed your concept of #1 on that date over a 50 or so year span. It is interesting to see how music has changed in that time, in both country and the genre I blog about, rock. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

Nice playlist
ReplyDeleteIt’s funny, now, how “controversial” Loretta was with some of her lyrics, compared to what gets produced today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun playlist. Well done you two.
