Mommy here.
Dad came home from rehab on February 4th, but over the past week has been showing signs of decline again, so back to the hospital we went. After running a lot of tests the doctors think they know what's going on, but still aren't 100% sure yet.
Yesterday afternoon I met with a case worker at the hospital and told her about everything that's been going on for nearly 3 months now. Since I'm an only child she asked what I had for a support system. I told her we had extended family, some close friends and neighbors, but that first and foremost my beloved cat was my support system, and it's 100% true. When I'm home I just want to stay curled up with her and not move.
If it wasn't for this precious, perfect angel, I don't think I would still be standing at this point. Mudpie shouldn't have to carry so much on her little shoulders either, but as I tell her every day, we'll get through this nightmare together.
As we reach the end of February, the month of love, I hope Mudpie knows how much I worship the ground her paws walk on. I think she does.
I am so sorry that you have to have this double load of trouble. The loss of your mother is just so great. And with your father being so unwell it gives you no relief. It is wonderful that you already had this loving sweet cat in your life. You both know each other's habits and she's so ready to be there for you when you are at home. I am praying for you and your father.
ReplyDeleteI agree that out cats can provide a great amount of comfort when we deal with tragic, sad and even happy events in our lives. They are so attuned to our moods and feelings. The stress of looking after your Dad(so soon after losing your Mum) is bound to take its toll on you.
ReplyDeleteRemember to allow some time to look after you.
Vent, grieve, cry and hug your cat. Reach out to others too.
Sending you much love and purrs.
Nancy and purrs from Julie
I'm sure Mudpie knows. They always do.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Mudpie is there for you. Sending many prayers, hugs and purrs.
ReplyDeletePrayers for your dad and Mudpie knows how much you love her. She loves you right back.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Mudpie. ♥
I am glad you have sweet Miss Mudpie to help you through this awful time. I am praying for your dad. XO
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot to go though, it really is, but at least you're close. I went though so much with my parents but they were 8-9 hours away from where I live. That's extra added stress. Thank goodness sweet Mudpie is there for you and she loves you to pieces too. We understand, it isn't easy, you will get through it.
ReplyDeleteMudpie surely is the best support system for you, Melissa. Please know we send love, purrs and prayers for you and your dad.
ReplyDeleteI understand. And your love for Mudpie and hers for you is something sweet to hold to each day. While my boy was slipping away- and during all the time of sickness, Katie was a steady, always there and loving comfort. I understand how Mudpie who loves you greatly, is such a comfort to be with. I'm sending you love and comforting prayer.
ReplyDeleteTW wishes she could be more of a support system for you. She only had Pop through the first year of her ordeal until a couple of bloggers stepped up. They are so important to her. So glad you have MP and not a cat such as myself.
ReplyDeleteSending caring thoughts, Melissa. My little Hope’s purrs have comforted me, often.
