You're probably wondering why I'm wearing a surgical mask today.
Then I started thinking...I have some pretty sharp claws, why don't I remove it here at home and save Mommy's insurance some money? My services are much cheaper - my fee is only 25 packages of squeezies. Doesn't that sound like a good deal to you?
Now hold still, Mommy. Hope this thing doesn't bleed too much...

Our tree is up. My stocking is hung. (See it in the doorway behind me?)
Whaddya mean it's still 5 weeks until Christmas?!?!?!

Our Christmas tree went up on Sunday! Mommy did it that day to help her forget the fact there was no NASCAR race. It finally got decorated yesterday.
It brought to mind a number of years ago when I walked into the living room to find Mommy sitting on the floor with two huge Chewy boxes! Fully expecting to find them packed full of goodies for me, I ran right over to see what was inside, only to find...
October's CatLadyBox was the annual Black Cats Box...here's what was inside!
Disclosure: I receive a discount on my CatLadyBox subscription as a thank you for my monthly review. Regardless of compensation received, we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers.

I apologize if I look rather annoyed in my selfie this week.
November is the cloudiest month of the year in my neck of the woods (followed by December...sigh...) and last night on the news they said that so far 81% of November has been cloudy.
I haven't been able to sunbathe in weeks, and it's starting to depress me. Every morning Mommy opens the door for me so I can look out. I keep hoping to see some warm rays pouring in but it never happens.
I love the extra cuddle time with Mommy but I also seriously miss my summer days soaking up the sun and heat.
Mommy says it's obvious I was adopted. I wonder what she means by that?

I got into some trouble on Wednesday night.
I know, it's hard to believe.
You know how I've explained that I get on the table next to the couch when it's squeezie time? Well, on Wednesday night Mommy made some tea and sat down to read. I hopped up on the table to stare at her and guilt her into an extra squeezie.
She tried to ignore me - the horror! - but I kept waiting, and unbeknownst to Mommy, I was slightly leaning on her mug.
Eventually the mug went tumbling, and the tea came pouring out.
Her phone got wet.
The TV remote got wet.
The laptop got wet.
My blankie on her lap got wet.
The couch got wet.
Her shoe on the floor got wet.
By some miracle all the electronics survived, but it took Mommy close to an hour to clean everything up. She told me if she'd had to replace her phone or laptop, the cost would've cut into my squeezie budget!
We made up quickly and soon we were cuddling again, but I never did get that extra squeezie I was asking for!

Mommy's heart is breaking today because it's her favorite driver Kevin Harvick's final NASCAR race. He announced back in January that he would be retiring at the end of the season, but until recently she's been living in denial that the time was quickly approaching. Over the last few weeks she's been a little weepy on race days, so I have a feeling today will hit her pretty hard.
Kevin has been her one and only driver for 23 years now. That's a very long time! It all started the week after Dale Earnhardt was killed on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500. She had never even watched a NASCAR race but of course she knew who Dale was and that his tragic death was a very big deal. Still she was surprised by the outpouring of grief she witnessed on the news and tuned in the following week to see how the sport would carry on without him.
A young driver named Kevin Harvick was placed in Dale's car and finished 14th in his debut Cup race. He won for the first time in only his 3rd start in a thrilling battle with Jeff Gordon, and by that time not only was Mommy hooked on NASCAR, she had chosen *her* driver.
121 combined national series wins rank him 3rd all-time in NASCAR history, while his 60 Cup wins are 10th in series history. Next year Kevin will move into the broadcast booth as an analyst at FOX Sports so we'll still be seeing him, but it won't be the same.

Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and by people of Mexican ancestry. The multi-day holiday (October 31-November 2) focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars, honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts.
