Meows from Mudpie!
I know what you're thinking. "Mudpie, you're crazy! Your Mommy worships you. She would never do anything to hurt you!"
Don't believe me? Well hear me out...
To start, one day last week Mommy had fixed the back door (just as you see here) so I could look out for a few minutes. She didn't realize how strong the wind was, and when her back was turned the door slammed shut on my paws! It pinched! I squealed!
But much, much worse...as a Rewards member at Lowe's, Mommy was able to pick up a free mum plant on Friday morning. It's no secret Mommy has a black thumb, but since it was free she figured she'd give it a shot. Now I always enjoy checking out things like apples and sweet corn when she brings it home, so she thought maybe I might like to give the mum plant a sniff. I also have a bad habit of chewing on dried flowers around the house, so the minute she put the mum down I bit at it and chewed off a tiny part of a leaf.
Mommy took the plant right away from me, and then started wondering if mums are safe for kitties. She went right to Google only to read that they're TOXIC to cats!!!
Needless to say, she went into panic mode. She snapped a picture of the leaf I had taken a bite out of and emailed it to my vet, who said it was so teeny tiny small it was nothing to be concerned about, just to keep an eye on me in the off chance I might end up with a little upset tummy.
Mommy worried all day, but I was fine. She says she's never, ever bringing a live plant into the house ever again! She just doesn't know enough about them to know what is and isn't safe for kitties, and kitties are much more important to her than stupid old plants and flowers.
Ok, so maybe she wasn't trying to kill me after all...but you have to admit I've had some pretty close calls lately!

Oh, pretty Mudpie, bet it hurts your mom's heart more that it hurts you! Hugs!
Dearest Mudpie,
OH NO—no way that Mommy was trying to kill you.
Just some very rare coincidences like that door slamming shut and pinching your paws.
In general kitties know instinctively IF a plant is toxic so that is not bad.
You know what, just have a sweet nap with your Stuffies and forget about it!
Hugs,
Mariette + Kitties
Timely training help for your staff. Thank goodness no lasting damage or fatalities, save for the plant!
Have an incident/assassination free week!

You know your mom would never hurt you, Mudpie. But it's best to leave any plant you see alone.
Poor Mudpie; under such poor management!
Demand extra treats and snuggles to make up for the shortfall in judgement.
*whispers to your meowy: you are okay, all is well now...don't beat yourself up*
Oh dear Mudpie, it sounds like mew were in the wrong place at the wrong time. If we were mew, we'd just head off to bed for a bit and have a snooze, while the universe recalibrates so it can bring mew oodles of lovely things in the near future!
I am glad you are OK. Pretty selfie. XO
What can we say...our Peep can makes some pretty good mistakes too! We love her anyway. Keep being awesome Mudpie! Your #1 Fan Boy, Marvelous Marv

Your mommy loves you so much, Mudpie, and those were just accidents. We are glad you are okay! XO
Mudpie, now you have to know better than to think your Mom would ever do anything to hurt you. And her very quick response should convince you for sure We hav two mums out in the front yard where we can't get them. But just to be safe Mom is going to check out if they are toxic to dogs too.

I can see how you might think your Mom wasn't completely doting on you, but it's just a bit of a stretch to think she was trying to Kill you! I'm glad your paws weren't too badly pinched by the door, and that you didn't get sick from the plant. The one plant that is absolutely forbidden in our house, and even in our yard, is lily. Mom use to have lots of houseplants, but they were just one more thing to take care of, so she got rid of all of them.
Mum was being adventurous, trying something new. Lesson to you both - No plants and NO NIBBLING young lady!!! ;-)
Maybe your mom needs pictures of flowers on the walls. As for the door, ouch! I've pinched toes and fingers in doors and it is not fun.
Glad that door didn't do anything more than pinch you...ya need your paws to not hurt!! Good thing that mum was free....sorry you gave your Mom a panic.
Aww... Mudpie, we're so glad you are OK. It must have been scary for you both.
That is scary! I would had a heart attack if I accidentally let Katie have something not good for her. Know what you mean.
Sounads like you are having a very eventful week! So sorry to hear about your paws but glad to know you are well! Stay safe!
Oh dear, close calls indeed, Mudpie! And now dad's gotta throw in his stupid comment about how when he read the title of this post he immediately thought of how I react when he or mom try to pick me up and hold me. They always laugh at me and say how I freak out like they're trying to kill me or something. Eff 'em, I say, right?
Oh, Mudpie! When Bear and I moved here, my brother sent us an azalea as a housewarming gift. I was so busy setting everything up, I didn't think to do research. I set it in the window. Next morning, I woke up and there was an empty pot and a pile of dirt. Unless Bear hid the entire plant somewhere where I haven't found it in 17 years, he ate it. Again, I didn't really think much of it until a few weeks later when I found a list of toxic plants ... and azaleas were on the list (they aren't on every list ... so I have no idea if they are actually toxic ... fun fact ... not all lists agree for all plants/flowers). Bear also ate a ton of onion dip at one point. Got his back leg stuck in a jar of peanut butter. Got his paw stuck in the toaster. Chewed through cords. That boy kept me on my toes and got himself into so much trouble. But I loved him more than anything. I know you aren't a trouble-maker, but I promise you that your Mommy loves you more than anything, too, Mudpie.
